It seems to me, that any type of law that is not our own, should automatically be banned in this country. Is that not already the case?
It is more of a social code by those who choose to live by it's tenets. Until a government entity begins enforcing religious laws, I am not getting too worked up over this issue.
Besides, there is always the Law of the Jungle! It enforces itself.
How can you ban a social code? That would be similar to banning the word "like" from the vocabulary of teenagers.
Don't worry Stu. You can't ban a social code. It'll go to the SCOTUS and then be declared an assault on religion. Then the fun stuff will start happening here instead of the Middle East, hehe.
M. Khurram Baig, a litigator with Kumar, Prabhu, Patel & Banerjee in Atlanta and a member of the Georgia Association of Muslim Lawyers, said the answer is no: “I don’t know of any instance where foreign law has prevailed in a Georgia court ever. So why is this necessary?
This has to be one of the funniest things I've read all day. If a muslim lives in Georgia long enough, do they pray with a southern drawl?
I have studied the Sharia banking and currency laws and they have much to offer.
Our constitution prior to the federal reserve act and our abandonment of silver and gold based currency was closer to Sharia law then what we have now.
My point is banning a system of laws would theoretically limit certain good actions.
Like beating and or stoning for:
Premarital sex,
Drinking alcohol,
Sex by divorced persons
Theft
Adultery
Dressing in "Non-Traditional" dress
Being out in public with a non family male
"Honor" killings
And that is just a few.......................
PHAQ!
We already have the "Law of the Land" in place.
We have no place in western society for "Sharia Law".
