Non-leathal self defense
OK I could use some input and a recommendation for a non-leathal self defense item. I'm leaning more towards a pepper spray because the intended user is a non-shooter. So, does anyone know of a good spray manufacturer and a Denver area resource to purchasing it and extra charges?

I've heard nothing but good about Fox Labs. My mom and sister carry them, and there's one in the house too. I believe that even CCW holders should have a mid-level defense tool, more than fists but less than a gun, so it fits that role too.

Knives
I wouldn't say that knives are as a rule non-lethal, nor would I say that their use is always lethal in outcome.
I try to never be without some form of legal knife though how I carry changes.
What I try to get is something that will be useful in everyday situations (cutting open packages, cutting string, etc.) and can be used for SD if I have to. The fact that I use it for non-SD uses means that a lawyer is going to have a tough time declaring that I sought to use it against someone.
To this end lock-bladed folding knives are basically what I carry. I prefer those I can open one-handed. Currently a Camillus Sizzle is what gets to ride with me. It's small enough that I can carry it anywhere but on an airplane or into a jail/court. It's large enough that it can make a close situation go badly for someone who wants to be that close to me.

That's the approach I'm going to take... long and short here is that it isn't for me, it's for the girlfriend who's freaked because a friend was attacked in the parking lot of their complex. I'm gone on the road (and don't take a firearm to her place anyway) and they are both worried now. I just didn't know which manufacturer was the most reliable. The knife thing would be fine for me cause I carry one anyway, but not so much for 115 lbs of little woman.. I was adverse to the stun gun idea just because of penitration concerns and it requiring actual point aiming.
Thanks again for the recommendations guys!

I carry Fox Five Point Three, A 4oz. can. For personal use, I'd recommend the 2oz. cans though. Karl.
