I just can't imagine tossing wood and paint buckets into the back of a BMW.

couple of thoughts...

first off I doubt that BMW did this ... this thing reeks of shade tree mechanic mods.

Keep in mind that in Germany, BMWs are about as exotic as Chevys are here.
