first time luck!
I have never been turkey hunting! My buddy told me of spot to give it a shot so I got up super early, drove a couple hours, walked in the woods, tried a couple calls and a magic gobble happened! unfortunately I didn't get anything to come in. apparently my mouth call was not very good! I need more practice!
so I got a scratch call (aluminum face with wood stick) and went out that evening. well shit, that damn thing works! I got a gobble down in a canyon below me, called again, heard nothing for about an hour. all of a sudden he gobbles 50 yards behind me! I made another hen call and he let another one loose!
I got my gun ready and he walks 5 yards to my left (I am leaned up against a massive boulder). He sees my decoy, heads straight for it. when he is facing away from me I pull the gun up but he must have saw me or heard me and went on alert, spread head, head straight up. It was a beautiful sight. I took it in for about a millisecond before I pulled the trigger and let loose a 3 inch #4 steel shot winchester wal-mart load (all i had!). He was DRT.
I am not addicted to turkey hunting!

Now you have to mount the tail fan and beard. It's easy. big piece of cardboard, bunch of stick pins, fan it out and use stick pins to keep it in place. Put borax on the meaty part after setting it out e way you want it to look. Sometimes helps to take q bit of fishing line with a canvas bag needle and tie the opposite ends of the bottom of the feathers together to get the fan to stay fully opened. Let it dry out for a couple of weeks (borax the meaty end of the beard too), and then mount in a wall hanger.

Very nice. I didn't get a chance to go this spring. Got skunked last year, but got one the year before.
I'm certainly not the best turkey hunter out there, but I'm 50/50 overall, so no complaints.
