I just found out my wife has an early morning flight booked for, of all dates, September 11, 2011. That's right, the ten year anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Just seems like she could have picked a different day to fly. Know what I mean?

Maybe a little bit. But it would depend on where she was flying from and to.
I would be more worried of the TSA "group grope".
New York, any of the airports servicing DC area, honestly East or West coast would be more likely then any of the fly over states including Denver, CO.
Id say of all days, that will be a day where folks are more alert in their jobs and will do a much better day of security checks etc.
I wouldnt worry at all with the exception of not being home that particular day.
I try to be home with the family on every 9-11 if I possibly can.
Yes I would.
I'd ask her to change the date.
My buddy is getting MARRIED on that day.. apparently, it was the ONLY day that venue had for over a year.. DUH!
ps - the wedding is in Maryland.. so i'm not sure we'd be in DC much..but.. still..
I'm not so sure I can watch my buddy hand his balls to this girl.. [Bang]
I wouldn't worry at all.
