The video didn't load for me.
Great video. This would be good for a lot of college students who still don't know what our system of government is. The only people that I knew that could explain it were fellow political science majors (I of course attended a very liberal school).
seems to me that our nation is a democracy, it wasn't designed to be but overtime it has become one. we need to try and get back to the essence of being American and renew the republic within America.
What the video did not point out or do very well is that a true democracy indicates that every single person participates in government. Everyone has a chance and responsibility to take their turn in office as well as voting. The point is that in a democracy 51% is the majority and takes away from the 49% very easily. The other portion is that you don't elect representatives that share your beliefs (which I will say loosely) to be your voice. You are your voice, which will be unheard even easier than it may be now. Soon people will start voting for themselves and getting even less accomplished and ruining the system even more. It is very easy for rights to be removed and abolished under this system.
