My first .308 project.
I've never done a .308 project, so it was high time. This is probably the easiest so far, as I started with an already tricked out Rock River Arms Elite Operator LAR-8.
It's got a 16" bull barrel, a two stage trigger, a custom, free float, "Half Quad Rail", with a continuous top rail, flip up front sight gas block with lower rail section, full ambi controls including the mag release, selector switch and magwell mounted bolt release. An ambi single point sling mount covers the castle nut.
I changed out the stock for a Magpul ACS, added a Magpul RVG to the bottom fore end rail, and replaced the rear site with a Magpul Rear MBUS for a perfect co-witness. For optics I added a Aimpoint CompML2 with QDP mount, riser and rubber cover. Magpul XT rail covers installed on the sides, with Magpul ladder covers on the top and bottom rails. A Streamlight Poly Tac is set for thumb activation in a offset holder on the left rail.
Coming next is a Urban Tactical ERT 1/2 point sling with a left side rail mount, and MASH hooks on each end. The factory Houge pistol grip feels a bit small, so a Magpul MIAD with large inserts should improve it. Haven't decided yet to refinish it, but if I do, DuraCoat in Combat Black including the mags sounds good. A BCM Gunfighter charging handle with a Mod 4 extended latch would be useful, and a 3x magnifier with a FTS mount would give it more range. Did I miss anything?!

Updates...
Ok, added a Magpul MIAD with the large inserts, a Magpul .070" Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad, ditched the RVG and flashlight for now, changed out the Aimpoint CompML2 for the new jewell to the crown, a Trijicon TA-11 ACOG 3.5x35 Scope, Green Horseshoe Reticle w/ .308 BDC.

Now just waiting on the KillFlash, TMS Bipod, and my shoulder to get better so I can finally shoot it!
:D

Very nice! The acog looks right at home. Now you should just get a couple dozen snap caps to practice dry firing/clearing 'til the shoulder is ready!

I'll shoot it for ya! Just to make sure it works and everything.
