Unless the repair shop sent info to carfax or ins co, what they do not want you to see never appears.
It checks out mechanically, I want to know its ownership history...
Look for a little white arrow next to the gas pump icon on the car fuel gauge. Rental cars will most often times have this little white arrow that tells you which side the fuel cap is on. Most other non rentals will not have this arrow. See below...

I bought a salvage/wreck with a "spotless" carfax
if the dealer is all gung-ho on it, have him print it out for you

My cars have arrows, neither was a rental.
I have noticed that rental companies either have stickers or sharpie under the hood on the top of the radiator support. Oil info usually.
