Ok, 2002 chevy 2500hd w/duramax and the front diff, driver side is leaking...I think the seal is gone...any idea on how much it costs? Gotta get the book out and see what kind of oil it takes so i can top it off...sigh, just got my damn arcadia fixed, and now this...

Mine has been leaking for a few years. I top off the fluid twice a year and call it good. I have been told the "new" seal will leak just as bad and the cost is $600 or so.

that sucks. Hope you get it taken care of. if it isn't too terrible I would just top it off and check it at each fill up. carry some extra oil in the truck.
The seal is under $50 and takes 15 minutes to change if it's really your diff seal that's leaky. If its a pinion seal it's a little harder to do.

Had the same leak on my 1500. it was like 400 bucks at the dealer. The wacky diff case supposedly needs a special tool. Haynes book said take out the diff and have it serviced by someone with the tool. Look online and see if you want to try it. The seal is almost free, getting in the right spot is expensive.
