Going through the process for the first time, I found this video to be extremely helpful. He spends a bit a time showing you where to find the appropriate forms and generally covers everything from the perspective of an individual applying, not a corp or trust. Otherwise he does a good job holding your hand and explaining what goes where on the forms.
Corrections: It's currently taking ~6 months. No completion time difference between an individual and a trust.

Form 4 Dealer to Individual or LLC/TRUST is a solid 6 to 6 1/2 months.
Have been tracking my Form 4's these last two months.
