So aside from the long-term solution to all this, what is the short term solution to keep ours safe? Should we abandon all posts until the unrest can be calmed?
The embassies are by definition US Soil, and we should not abandon them. What we SHOULD be doing is treating these attacks the same as an attack directly on our shores and as an act of outright war.
In another thread I expressed that we should pull back, seal borders, and destroy anyone that provoked us. A momentary lapse of reason. While the US is not and should not act as the worlds police force, we must protect our own. We SHOULD be acting like Americans and kicking their sorry asses so hard they dont dare mess with us again. I get that the terrorists will never stop hating us, and thats fine. I dont care if they love us hate us or ignore us, but right now I want them to FEAR US. It is my fondest wish today that someone in this countries leadership finds thier balls, steps out from behind the skirt they have been hiding behind, and starts putting boots to asses until the entire terrorist community is afraid to mention the words American or US, and the very thought of uttering the words infidel or jihad makes them soil themselves.

Our lack of a serious response, or defense in the first two attacks has led to this proliferation of attacks.
Snipers, claymores, flame throwers, MGs and the like.
THey hit, we hit harder. They bomb, we bomb bigger. They kill, we kill more, and we punish them to the core of their beings. The only thing they respect is force and death. Take the gloves off and let them see how ferociously we will defend our own.
Or I guess we could just apologize and hope this all goes away.
