CCW Instructor Requirements

I'm pretty sure I meet the requirements, but I thought I'd get your input.

I am a active duty LEO and an NRA Certified Patrol Rifle Instructor. Should be good to go right?

Also being an Instructor I'd say your good to go. OOPS after a minute I'm not %100 sure unless your a pistol Instructor.
Another Instructor should be along here shortly.

You must have NRA handgun (Pistol) cert to sign ccw class certificates. I would check with your local Sheriff to see if they accept any NRA cert. The NRA might pull your rifle cert if someone contacted them, to verify you as a NRA instructor.
The Sheriffs / state of CO ask you as an instructor to provide your Hand Gun training credentials.
AS always check with both the state & Nra for clarification.

The up side that trumps the NRA is being active LE.

is why I was thinking I was good to go. It never states "handgun" in there. Part of the Patrol Rifle course is transitions to pistol, which to me indicates proficiency in both systems, but I could be wrong. Per the black and white of the statute I'd say I'm good, but I've been wrong before :p.

Like i said, contact the Sheriffs dept and see what they say, by definition you look like you're covered. . I did have Adams cty contact me, as they had not come across my certificates before, to confirm the paperwork was from me and not a photoshop deal.

OTOH, CCW holders and LE have very different purposes and missions w.r.t. utilization of a lethal weapon, escalation of force, liability, service, survival, etc. If you are to be a benefit to a student, about 75% of what you should be teaching does not come from your LE training. Not to say you don't already know that, but far and away the worst class I know of taught in CO was by an ex-LEO.
