Hello all!
I just joined up. I am planning on buying or building my first AR-15 upon returning to the states. I am currently on deployment. I love my M4, though I feel I do not get enough range time. I am looking forward to having my own for range, hunting, and possible competition! Any general suggestions would be great. Are there any benefits for buyers/builders being military personnel?
Thanks!

Welcome aboard, glad to have you.
Thanks for your service also. God bless and be safe.
There are some great stores in the Denver area, check out Machine Gun Tours. I'm sure there are stores that will offer you military discounts as well.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and your support! I have been bumming around the site literally all day over here trying to learn and transition from the basics I know of an M4 and M16A2 to the wide variety and qualities of everything out there. I figure I will continue to do so over the next couple months. I have noticed, from most other "first build" threads, that buying a complete rig from wally world or elsewhere is said to be the best place to start. I definitely will check out all the local shops and see what I like. But I am wondering if buying a relatively cheap full build and then upgrading piece by piece is a plausible start for a first timer? Or buy an upper and lower and then fill in from there? Budget wont be a huge concern being that I will be getting home with some saved for this build plan; but I don't plan on going crazy. Thanks again, this is really is a great site!
