I work in Colorado Springs. Got gas at the Costco off Nevada and was Heading home on the frontage Road (N. Nevada) to get to Woodmen since I25 wasnt moving. I just past the Harley Dealer and Luisa Graf Jewelers and a large black bear ran in front of the car towards the strip of grass that separates I25 and Nevada. keep your eyes open if you are hiking the trail head in the area (I dont know the name of it).
Crazy man, glad you didn't hit it. I have seen what an elk can do to a semi, I could only imagine a Bear and a car.
Next time lay down supressive fire and head the other direction as the bear!
There was one next to the local trail here in Boulder a week ago, more or less minding it's own business...but it had left a sizable deposit right in the middle of the trail - that bear had been eating quite well!

I think that is Monument trail. It is on the west side of Costco. My wife and I ride our bikes along there now and then.
The black bears are usually not aggressive so long as there are not cubs and you don't corner them. I have them in my yard often.
They are fun to see.
I hit a small black bear on 24 by the Wines of Colorado, flipped it over my hood and he ran off. Got lucky, a small dent on the corner of my bumper. Lucky I managed to slow to about 20 mph. Not so lucky with a pheasant on 50 West by Fowler, took out my quarter panel and drivers door. Had to replace both. Damn bird.
