Todays question,
This has been troubling me for awhile now. Well "troubling" might be a little overstated, But it does make make me wonder now and then. Why do liberal, progressive socialists, insist on calling me a "Nazi" or "Fascist"?
Do they not realize that their politics and ideals are way closer to Herr Hitler and Senor Mussolini Than mine are.
Just one of those things I just don't get I guess.
[Dunno]

It makes them feel better inside for some reason. They can't rationalize or justify anything they believe in, so they have to compare people who disagree with them to the scourge of human history in order to make their insane viewpoints seem more valid.
That is, unless you walk around with a swastika on your person [ROFL1]

Keep in mind they are of the lowest level of intelligence and common sense. All they know about the Nazis and the Facists is that they had guns and did bad things. So they probably assume you have guns so that makes you evil too.
Sometimes you just have to stoop to their level to see things from their point of view.

argumentum ad hominem
guilt by association
All of us have used this tactic. I find it more effective at ending a conversation rather than furthering a debate.

I usually turn the table on them and just start out with calling 'em fascists. The look of puzzlement on their face is worth it.
But it's the liberal way actually. When the Nazi party calls themselves socialists, and their writings and philosophies proved it, it made things difficult for the fellow travelers in the academic ranks. So they simply started the lie that Nazi's are right wing... and repeat it over and over and over again to students who treat it as gospel. That's how the new truth is disseminated to the population.

Deny then counter accuse.

Well, a little backstory on it, I had a "friend" on facebook, More like a leftover from the mafia war days, anyway, one day I posted one of those cute little memes about glorious leader. She took "offence" at it, and called me a "nazi", Well I pointed out the above, She called me a "nazi" and defriended me. First time in a long time I fell out of the chair laughing.

Chad, I have read Mein Kampf, (well, not all the way, still haven't finished it after 35 years. Adolf, was not a spellbinding author.) And I am fully convinced, (from what I have read, anyway.) The democrats adopted it as their playbook in about 1965.

Partially it is because liberals/left wing people quickly descend to labeling their opponents to avoid having to consider their arguments.
But mostly it is a propaganda device that comes from the Bolsheviks of labeling all who don't conform to their ideology as "fascists". The slightest deviation from the true communism as they defined it meant that the dissenter had to be a "fascist". There were no small disagreements.

"she defriended you"
Sounds like a win to me.
