I'm with ya on this one Mr. Bert!
I'm not quite sure why some people don't like Dudley at RMGO...but it seems like that is the most high-profile local gun org. That's where I would focus my money, time and efforts if we really want to make our voices loud and clear.
I wrote a letter to the NRA-ILA, asking for their aid in turning the heat up on Dickinpooper and our democratically dominated state legislature. Then I sat down, and calmly wrote a letter to our dear governor...
Quote:
Mr. Hickenlooper, Five months ago you explicitly stated that new gun control measures would not have stopped the Aurora theater shooting. Now, suddenly, you say it's time to discuss gun control. I ask why you changed your mind? A perfect example of what gun control sounds like I share with you: The "F" word has no use in our language, it is not a good word, and serves no viable purpose in our vocabulary. Would you push to limit our freedom of speech because of this harmful word? No. So why would you propose that we talk about limiting what gun owners can have when the vast and overwhelming majority of lawful gun owners commit no crimes, practice extreme safety, and mean no harm to any innocent citizens with their guns. As a veteran of our armed services, and a native of Colorado, I grew up and learned safety before anything. My interest in these so-called "assault weapons" flourished after extensive training with them in the military. I don't NEED these firearms, but I do enjoy sport shooting with them. The same can be said of many fellow gun owners. We do not try to limit your hobbies by banning certain aspects of them, so why would you open the floor to discussion about banning aspects of our hobbies just because a very small number of people misuse them? Any bans or further legislation will not take these firearms off the streets, they're already out there, either through lawful purchases or an illegal black market. All legislation does is limit those who follow the law, like myself. As a tax payer, I'm letting you know now, that I do no approve of any compromise on my second amendment rights, and ask that you keep in mind that any infringement of gun owners rights will be met by lawful resistance. I've already contacted the NRA and if any gun control measures are proposed, you can expect protests, rallies, and extensive letter writing campaigns that I will help to promote until your mailbox, email inbox, and office (along with the state legislature) is inundated with the thoughts of gun owning Coloradans. Furthermore, any attempts to infringe upon our second amendment rights could be met with litigious action.
Thank you for your time,
Ryan ********
This is really a timely post. Since the election results, I decided that I needed to provide more support to 2A organizations. I have been a NRA member for many years, and will continue to support them, but I am looking into other national and state based organizations to support also (possibly RMGO).
Obviously I cant support them all, I am curious if there are any particular org's that members feel are especially worthy of support? I am aware of "complaints" with both the NRA and RMGO, but they are both are well established and working to protect our rights and they can do a lot more than me on my own.
I am truly concerned on both a national and state level......
Shouldn't have capitulated that you don't "need" those guns ronin, but I like the letter other than that.
there has never been a more compelling reason to leave. and yeah, I'm a native, this state is done for, has been for a while, but that's insanely obvious after this last year. Kali east, here we come.
True, you're correct... But I was speaking to a libtard, you know the moment you bring up "We need these to keep tyranny at bay" they label us "right wing radicals." I should have said- I don't NEED a semi-automatic rifle for personal defense everyday, but in rare occasions you never know...
