Cell Phones

Ok, this is a bit off topic, but I'm wondering if I'm the only weirdo left that doesn't have a cell phone.


Earlier today I was talking to someone and they asked me what time it was and I looked at my watch. To which they responded "A watch? Nobody wears watches anymore, the just look at their cell phones". I said I didn't have a cell phone and they looked at me like I said I didn't have running water in my house.


So here's the question, do you have a cell phone and if so what kind (generally, I don't care about iPhone vs Android or any of that nonsense).

I do have a cell phone, a smart-phone, and I kind of resent their necessity today. I was one of the last holdouts until a few years ago when I finally succumbed to the convenience factor. However, I take great pains to not let it become a leash for me. I rarely carry it when I'm not at work, frequently (and deliberately) "forget" it at home when out and about, and don't ever pick up unless I'm waiting for a specific call. Between the GPS tracking that I know is being misused, and the fact that people assume I should always be immediately accessible, I impose some limits on it.

I have an iPhone but in the next couple weeks I'm going back to a dumb phone. I really don't need what I have.

I have a smart phone since I like to look up news, sports scores and watch youtube on it. If I do not recognize a number I do not pick up, and often I leave it on my desk at home and leave it on silent and don't notice any calls until I look at it and see the green light blinking at me. No land line in the house either.

Zund, by not having a cell phone by today's standards is exactly like not having running water... Unless you live in a cave... or in Bailey. [Coffee]
I still wear a watch everyday... I also own one of them new-fangled, hi-tek smart phony thingies.

I've had a smartphone for about 5 years and have grown to detest it but damn, it makes life so much more convenient.
