I'm just curious- and I'm not in disagreement with the OP, but isn't this something Bush started? If a Republican was doing the same thing, would most on here feel the same way? Granted, I don't think Obeyme should have sole authority for this, there needs to be incontrovertible evidence that the person being targeted is in fact a terrorist, and there needs to be checks and balances- like the two man rule with SSBNs.

The John Warner Defense Appropriation Act (H.R. 5122) is pretty scary too. At least H.R. 5122 was brought to a vote before Congress and not by Executive fiat in the form of a memo. We've been on a slippery slope for a long time unfortunately. It's gotten to the point that Berry doesn't even pretend to work within the system.
