Since it looks like the ban is going to pass (I'm still holding out hope but not much) I'm wondering how that's going to impact currently owned mags. Since you will not be able to transfer them it seems that they will need to be destroyed or turned in if something happens to you.
So your family can have your rifles but not the mags if nothing is done to insure they can take possession.
I'm not a lawyer but this is how it looks to me.
What if I place my mags in my NFA trust right now? I would have to serialize them, but could this protect them?
Just move to a gun friendly state and you will be ok.
That's what I'm wondering. Would they even need to be serialized?

If "they" do not know how many magazines you have. How will "they" know what is or is not a family item. This law is unenforceable, unless there is a LE from any agency with an axe to grind what doesn't get posted on the web, does not exist. Magazines, The new marijuana.
I have a tendency to side with Jim on this one. Assuming we're talking about HB 13-1224, there are tons of problems with the law as it is currently proposed. Here's what I wrote to someone who wrote to me just yesterday with questions:
As for whether transferring high capacity mags into the Trust will effectively circumvent the proposed HB 13-1224, it's really anybody's guess. The Bill will undoubtedly be revised before a vote. After the vote, if the law remains as vague an incomplete as the Bill is now, it will then undoubtedly require court interpretation as to how it may or may not apply to corporations and trusts.
This being said, I can't see any real downside to putting the items in the Trust.

Or something similar? All Ak steel , bakelite, and synthetic mags have no date of mfg.
