Cerakote... who's got'em on surfaces that get hot?

I mean really hot... and how well do they hold up in heat?

I'm planning (or better to say "I want to!") on cerakoting one of my cans with that burnt bronze color (Thanks to Spyder's post: http://www.ar-15.co/threads/96057-Cerakoting )
and was wondering how well will cerakote hold up against the heat.... especially shooting the can with my "Lil B*tch"?

My can is from AAC and their finish freaken sucks! Got's a sh*t load of scratches already from me twisting it on and off rifles... and only God knows what else I do with it [ROFL1]

Any feed back would be helpful (and possibly entertaining [Coffee]). Pics of wear and tear of your cerakoted cans, barrels, slides, etc...with some info would also be awesome. Thanks [Beer]

My input with everything I've done in Cerakote (including barrels), is that it should be able to handle it. I use the H series coatings. They do make a high temp coating which should hold up better, but I think that coating it in burnt bronze with the H series and seeing how it holds up would be "my" first move. I see no reason why it wouldn't hold up. Like I said though, I've had it on barrels and it has held up perfectly fine. I haven't put the barrels through any kind of endurance runs though, and I have no clue as to what temp. I've had them at. I just know they still look like the day I took them out of the oven. Your can could be a good test. [Flower]

I was screwing around with doing the TBAC logo on my can (with a little help from Zak) and used both the high temp and the basic cerakote for the different colors. The high temp is great - looks like it did the day I finished it. I used a Battleship Gray in the regular Cerakote and is already turning yellow - it looks scortched. I only run my can on my bolt gun - it gets hot but nothing like it would if I did mag dumps with it on my AR.

I'd suggest sticking to the high temp air dry stuff. I did spend some time at the Cerakote booth at SHOT. You can mix any of the high temp air dry paints you want for any custom color. Likewise you can mix any of their bake paints to any custom color you want. They did not advise mixing the high temp air dry and the regular paints.

Air dry, huh? I'll keep that in mind too, thanks.... as far as the mag dump goes... I do get a little carried away with the can on my "lil b*tch"/krink, and the cycle rate when I bump fire is pretty damn high which gets the can steaming hot... especially after dumping 2 or 3 mags.
