You must not remember the good ol' days when it took six to eight weeks to get anything. It would take that long even though there wasn't any shortage or mad rush. It took a week to ten days just to get the order to them. It's still cheaper than local even with the increased shipping and handling. At least most of the time.
The internet revolutionized shopping. It has made shopping a national or even international event. Things you didn't even consider getting by 'mail order' are routinely purchased long distance.
But yeah, it does stink that some S&H has gone up. But it's still better than it used to be.
