Everything has their problems. Part of the reason I don?t really want to upgrade my truck. No problems right now and don?t want to get into something that might have some :)

The ZF 8-speed is sealed. 100K for fluid.
The MB trans was always hunting to find the right gear. Would resist downshifting and bogging and you're feeding it more gas to get it there. By the time it does downshift, then you're winding up the twin turbos and accelerating more than you'd like to. I took it in twice (they could do nothing), reset the adaptive learning mode multiple times. I was happy to get rid of the GL 450.
ETA: I'm no specialist, but the 7G-Tronic is also sealed and requires a special filler tool.
Dipsticks are old school. ;-)
The list of vehicles that had the 4L30-E transmission is just as long, but it doesn't mean it wasn't a piece of shit.
Cracked the perfect windshield on the Amigo I'm trying to sell today as well. Also the check engine light came on. Great.
Why ZF's Eight-Speed Is the Best Automatic Transmission

Its capabilities are so broad that it's displacing dual-clutch units, too.
I'm not saying that transmission is bad, because I don't know anything about it.
That sucks about your windshield and CEL. No fun.
Just replaced my windshield today, but I would hate to have to do it on a car I was trying to sell.
Yeah, I thought it was just a chip, but then I noticed a crack in a different part. It was a rock from the rig I was piloting for, and to fix it will probably cost all the money I made driving for 10 hours today. Grrr
The CEL is a constant companion to most cars I own, but not great if I'm trying to sell it. I drove from Beulah to Thornton with a For Sale sign in my window through rush hour traffic. Maybe that will generate some interest.
