I was going to say the same thing, but he probably ran the stop sign on a side street and turned the wrong way onto the one way street.

That's just crazy on my part. All these years and I never realized that. He was turning right from a side street onto a four lane street with two lanes both directions. I always remembered that turning from the street he was on to the four lane was a required stop. I figured we were looking in the opposite directions because he was looking left to check traffic and I was looking right to check traffic.
At any rate I learned to look all directions including the wrong way. The fortunate thing is I only ended up with a cut knee and a few bruises from my roll across his hood.
If I ever hit the lottery or PCH grand prize (or find one at a garage sale), I'm getting one or two of these.
