in ww2 ze Germans were getting ready to invade england. We sent them spare guns. It's a poster from that program. Not to be confused with the lend/lease program the gov did though.

I got that part but thought there was more, like a reference to someone or some organization I wasn't getting.

The funny is that England is very anti at this point and couldn't defend themselves then. It's reminiscent of the "rifle behind every bush" quote from the Japanese regarding an invasion of the US. It's not that funny, just sort of ironic and sad.
