That brand (Gransfors ) is one of the best out there. The size is a good all around, tho I could see a need for the full size one + a camp/hunting axe. For full time tree felling, I would start to think of getting the Gransfors American Forrest axe. For mid winter use in Minnesota, I would use a different style axe...something made by stihl...or maybe Council Hudson Bay.

Very nice gift. I was given one as a gift 10 or 12 years ago. More of a hatchet, though...only about 10 1/4" long. Razor sharp, same leather sheath. I can't bring myself to use it as it's more like a work of art than a tool.Quote:
