I'm thinking about selling my 7.5" 5.56 upper and looking for a .300blk SBR upper to run suppressed for home defense. Good idea? Bad idea?

Time billed on a project - including the time we spent on calls. And we bill by the hour.

sell the bbl , everything else is the same. Why are you going to sell one caliber for another? Do you have all the components to load 500-1K, like tomorrow? if not shit can the idea till you can.

It's got a JP handguard and KX3 that I also want to sell, leaving me with just the upper receiver... So I figured I would sell it as a complete unit.

Why? all you need is a bbl. Everything else is interchangeable. Why spend money all over again? Used pistol uppers don't seem to be moving all that well, anywhere.
The 2nd question. Not that it needs to be put on line. Just figure the logistics out.

1- Suppressor, either way you need one, There's $1K by the time you're finished

2 - Complete upper $$ ?? 300 seems to be the current 5.45x39 flavor of the month, so bbls are almost premium priced, plus the accessories to go with it.
There's a 300 upper w/out BC/B/CH/ on arfcom for $350, it's had 250 views but no takers, to date.

3- Components $308 bullets, powder, Brass (no problem there) primers

4- working up loads for your intended use, then locating everything for that load.

Your investment wil run $500 + for upper + basic load development then $1k for the suppressor. Which you should get first, before anything else,.

I understand that I can just swap the barrel, but I want to change the handguard to something lighter weight, and obviously you can't attach a suppressor to a KX3. I don't need the handguard or the KX3, so I may as well sell them and put that money toward the next goal.
