Nice to see you ho a bit recently.. :)

I wish I had ANY money for toys. Wife is voluntarily changing careers, effectively cutting our household income in half until she gets a good job. This and some other money woes is causing some strife in the HoneyBadger household. :(
Hey on how you doing bro? I was like 2 minutes from your house for my last call at work today!
What be happnin HB?
I gotta hit the hay fellers....
Lets have a great Friday if we can.
Peace
See ya obc!
Yeah... We're working through some issues right now that center around her career change (she is quitting her job because she doesn't like the people that she works with and she doesn't feel like she is being a good mother to our son). Obviously money is going to be an issue when we cut out household income in half for an indefinite amount of time... She better figure things out and get a decent job before next Christmas, or we'll be moving out of our brand new house and into something much smaller, older, and in a shadier part of town. We bought this house and made other financial decisions based on the jobs that we both currently have and are guaranteed to have for another 3 years, but she is calling it quits early, so all my financial planning, along with our savings and investments, is about to get flushed down the can.
That being said... happy wife = happy life and she just isn't happy in her current work situation. In fact, she is downright miserable. :(

This is brass that I had previously tumbled in walnut media with some brass polish in there. I thought it was fairly clean. For this batch, I put it distilled water, dawn dish soap (about three drops), and a little pinch of lemishine.
my brass is now not only clean, but its shiny. I'm thinking of just getting ride of my dry media (not my vibratory tumbler) and using that as a receptacle for the stainless pins.

That's like a new penny belly!
With the wait time running 3-11 months depending how you file, it's worth the wait. You have a gun or two. set up a trust, Efile. Once the approval is given, you'll have some more dinero saved up to do that 11.5" AR just the way you want. OR an AK.

I have my eye out for a cheap CL treadmill. Guy on arfcom did a real nice Volume wet tumbler. OR a low budget unit is this Plastic drum and paddles. Install a bottom / rear petcock for ease of drain & rinsing.

I'm too old for this
Im cheap. I'd buy this: http://t.harborfreight.com/1-1-4-qua...xer-91907.html
HB, good luck with your funds situation. Is there a chance your wife can find a work from home type situation to at least lessen the loss of funds a bit?
We're looking at having my wife stop working when we have a kid, I have a budget for it with only my income. It's doable, but probably won't be fun. My wife wants to stay home (otherwise we'd pay almost her entire income to childcare, which the local daycares are just druggies in rehab playing with babies, and I can say that knowing it as a fact), and I think it'd be good for our baby. She's scared of putting that entire burden on me though, and is currently looking for various work at home options. I keep subtly dropping the idea of getting an FFL and doing transfers, but not sure how many I'd actually end up doing and if it'd be worth the hassle.
Yeah, we're open to all options right now. She just can't keep doing her current job for much longer... It's literally destroying her.
Interesting. Just ran a quick test with the WFT on 5 cases after setting it up again after setting up the tool with one 1.745" FC Case.
Two of the cases went to 1.740", while the other 3 wouldn't go below 1.750" (even with trimming them 3 times). Looked at the headstamps, the 2 that went low were FC and LC. The 3 that were high were RP. How peculiar. I hypothesize that the shoulders of different brass manufacturers will be different and therefore, the final trim length will not be the same amongst differing manufacturers. Let's proceed with an EXPERIMENT!
Pulled out 20 cases of varying length, then sorted by headstamp and trimmed them all in 1 go (ie drill still running the entire time).
Out of 9 RP -- 1.748" Average Post Trimming = +0.003" Deviation from Target
Out of 4 Win - 1.748" Average Post Trimming = +0.003" Deviation from Target
Out of 6 LC - 1.743" Average Post Trimming = -0.002" Deviation from Target
Out of 1 Win - 1.751" Post Trimming = +0.006" Deviation from Target
My hypothesis was correct based on this low sample experiment. In order to fully verify my results, I need to analyze a larger sample volume. So, I will sort through and find 25 of each headstamp, measure, trim, measure and calculate deviation from nominal (ie 1.745").
Stepping back, this isn't that surprising as different manufacturers of brass use different molds/dies/processes/etc to form their brass. I just didn't realize there would be this much of a deviation. If this is the case, then it looks like I'll be sorting all of my rifle brass by headstamp, trimming and keeping separated. It will make it easier to pick out cases of similar length for precision loads.
Stay tuned for another report.
Thanks for the good report BC. It's nice to see things examined scientifically. I guess its a good thing that I've been sorting my brass by headstamp.
That's all I have time for now, I just ran through 25 of RP and FC, here are results:
Out of 25 RP - Average = 1.748” - Std Dev = 0.004”
Out of 25 FC - Average = 1.742” - Std Dev = 0.002”
I'm attributing the smaller standard deviation of the FC cases due to my setting up the WFT for a 1.745" FC case, so the shoulders will be the same. My guess is that if I were to setup the WFT to a 1.745" case of each headstamp when trimming only that headstamp, the results will become more consistent across the board. I'm keeping a spreadsheet and will update it as I trim cases. I'll probably end up starting a full thread on it in the reloading forum, but not for a while.
Ya, its Friday....Stay tuned for Indian Taco pics..

Oh my bad...Seemed to have entered the reloading forum again.
