How ironic. I had a rifle pointed at my head (well, general direction at about 10ft), and when I confronted the guy and told him to point his muzzle down range, he got all "there's nothing to worry about". I responded with "if there wasn't anything to worry about, I wouldn't have said anything, point it down range". He huffed and puffed then pointed it straight up.
It was some old fart with two younger kids, he was showing them his "great grandpas rifle that was handed down to me by my grandad and father who served with it in world war 1 yada yada yada". I was about to ask him if he'd like a muzzle pointing in his face (in the form of my CCW).
My other Biatch....

...there's always at least 1 weird cat guy... ;)
Oh yea, and on another note, it looks like I'm definitely buying a Shield 9 soon for the wife [facepalm]
Also, XS Big Dot sights SUCK!!! We couldn't get that thing to shoot at anything we aimed at, at any distance. We tried bottom of dot in top of trough in rear site, fire 5" low and not in the middle of the big dot like its supposed to, then middle dot in trough, fired 5" high. Top of dot below trough, still 5" high. After looking at their website, I see how its supposed to be shot, but that's not how it was behaving for us.
Sorry BC. I have the factory night sights on my Glock 19 and love them.
Oh yea, this was just a friend's Shield we were borrowing for the day, gotta return it tomorrow. He swears by them, but says they're only defensive sights and even he can never get decent groups (which in my opinion, makes practicing hard).
Mrs BC liked the Trijicon HD Orange night sights on my M&P40c, so we may end up getting her those (she liked the idea of night sights), but will start with the pistol and a holster.
If you can't shoot decent groups at the range, you're never going to be able to do it under pressure.
Yup, exactly what he talked about. And I agree, they work well for getting on paper. However, I'm more likely to practice with a given pistol if I can shoot it at the range and get good groups. If not, the "meh why bother" mentality sets in because you can always get them on paper. Not that I would actually advocate that, just saying I don't see the point.
Exactly, and less likely to practice with it. What's the fun in shooting a pistol and not trying to get small groups? [Dunno]
Yup, she'd aim at the head and hit 10" low sometimes. Started aiming lower on the target and then it'd hit high for some reason. I thought she was shooting it weird, tried it and had the same problems.
We then shot my M&P40c for a while and she was getting 1" groups (just off of a 2" orange sticky dot) with each mag at 10yds. I was impressed. Until I nailed the center of it on the first try [Tooth]
Its a tool that can save your life by (possibly) ending someone else's.
anyone that's scored me at a ipsc shoot will know that I ask only two questions:
1) did I hit all the bad guys?
2) did I shoot any hostages?
i REALLY beat myself up about those two questions.
Don't get me wrong, they were always dead on horizontally but it was definitely vertically challenged.
Installing gable vents on the house tomorrow. Hope I don't run into any problems.
Then again, I get to play with a reciprocating saw, what could go wrong?! [Dunno]
Nope, he isn't selling it, just let her borrow it for the day to take to the range and see if she likes the platform. We'll buy new because no one locally has them for under $500. Yes. That LGS that has everything marked up has them for just over $500. At least, last I checked.
I can hit a sheet of paper about 80% of the time with my G19 from 50yds while standing. It took me several thousand rounds and more than 5 years of practice to achieve this. I don't know what your measure of a "decent" group is, but if someone is having difficulty hitting a sheet of paper at "defensive distances" while at the range, I don't want them anywhere near me while they are carrying.
...just my braggy $.02
How long was your range shut down Belly after the stupid kid?
Other than that, did you have a fun and productive range trip?
Agreed. During my 2yr state mandated refresher course (don't get me started), my CCW instructor had me start shooting at 50yds (well, it was closer to 45yds but still) and I was amazed at how well I could shoot. They were mostly within a 6" circle, but hitting the left shoulder when I was aiming for the head.
When I can't do that at 10yds, something weird is going on.
eta: Probably closer to 8", didn't have a tape measure but 6" sounds pretty small and I'm not THAT good of a shooter [LOL]
How's your night going BC?
Getting very lazy. Went to the range earlier, every pistol lane and all general purpose lanes were used. So we left and went to the coffee shop to get some drinks and wait, then we went back and got a GP lane. When we got home, we took dogs on their walks, dinner, and the lots of relaxing.
You? Any exploring in the X?
Oh yea, it got surprisingly warm today, was over 81*F this afternoon. Too hot, too soon.
