No, what we need is Herve' Villachase, otherwise known as "Tattoo" on "Fantasy Island"......that lil fucker always knew where the plane was......
"Boss, de plane, de plane.."

I'm just going off what I've heard on the subject... don't shoot the messenger- and no need for the vitriol- I was like 14 when I flew the sim, and despite not doing much else but take off, landing and flying around, it was easy to accomplish those tasks. I'm sure IRL is much more difficult, which is usually why you have to have countless hours before even being considered for anything outside of a single engine prop.
This was years ago, pre-9/11, so they were about as good as they could be for the time and cost of the sim. It was maybe 12 months after the 777 went into service, I can't say for sure. Maybe '99 or '00.
Here is an interesting theory. http://keithledgerwood.tumblr.com/po...-sia68-sq68ere
Someone used the Infinite Improbability Drive.
I think they crashed on some weird island with a fog monster, number station and all kinds of other weird crap that are actually part of some guys dream.
Fair enough. I won't even watch the news anymore because of the sheer idiocy that's being brought forth. Ronin, I could walk you through maneuvering most jets. "Flying" or "Piloting" the craft if much different. It's an extremely dynamic environment where fuel, weather and systems are constantly changing ( not to mention crazy passengers and Stews ). In a lot of ways it's probably like being a cop.....no two days are the same. Pilots are own worst enemy though. The typical bravado usual includes "It's easy". Most of these guys are crapping themselves on their yearly check rides.
To add ........dropping down to wave top level most likely wouldn't leave you with 8 hours of extra gas.
