Certain districts will always vote one way or another. The D's complain about gerrymandering, yet they are the ones who did the redistricting. I bet the D's are saying the same thing about Ken Buck. Who care's..... If the R's don't step up they will be gone next election cycle. IF the D's with Obama at the helm use EO's to pass immigration (SURPRISE!) reform, minimum wage and what ever else their entitlement minds think up. They will not be voted but dragged out, in tar and feathers .
Take a stand where ever you want. Mine is set.
I think they tried to pass voter ID laws in the recent past here and of course it was shut down due to all the minorities who would be oppressed BS.
BTW, in India you're required to have ID to vote. And even the poor people who make less than $1 a day all have IDs. Imagine that... Over a billion people and they all have IDs so they can vote. You need ID to get welfare and all kinds of free handouts, but not to vote. Gotta love that irony!
I had to look it up, governors CAN be recalled in Colorado. It requires 25% of the votes received to bring upon a recall election. That's a lot of signatures.
While I agree, you and I both know this will never happen. Every election from then on would be a massive landslide against the Dems which they will never allow.
And BIG surprise...

Colorado House majority balance remains uncertain with tight races

"These are strongholds for Democrats," said State Rep. Rhonda Fields, D-Aurora. "So I think these are going to come back in favor of the Democrats."
Delay reporting your results so you can ensure the "correct" outcome.

Are you sure about that? I think a more likely situation is that Obama will sign the most sweeping immigration/entitlement EOs he can think of. Republicans will be frothing at the mouth and make idiots out of themselves in the eyes of "minorities," thereby ensuring a Republican loss in 2016. Legacy win for Obama and big win for Democrats.
From the looks of things, unless there is a miracle out there, Hickenlooper is going to retain his job. That's just sickening. Maybe we should change our state flag.

Has the petition to rename it "Colofornia" been started yet?
This is exactly what will happen.
Obama is now in a corner. He doesn't give two sh*ts about whether his actions would hurt Hillary or any other Dem running for prez in two years. It's all about him and his legacy is at stake. He'll use that pen and phone as he wishes and sadly it appears congress is pretty much powerless to stop him. In these next two years can really hurt this country. Oh, I'm sorry, I meant to say "fundamentally change this country" to match his and his bases's views to the point where this country is barely recognizable. Every city in this country could be a border city. That's my fear.
OK so the news says we are still counting ballots to see who controls the house/senate. So if we are then how the hell do we know hickenlicker won???
Looks like the Dems found a bag of ballots somewhere. The CO House just went back to D controlled. YUK!
Tar & feathers. Even though thenaysayers say not possible. [ROFL2] I guess being in a staunchly conservative state like CA, gives one vision. Of what's to come . RECALLS, it's what's for Ballot.
I'd like to see a no gerrymandering, state wide free for all. Vote for anyone on the ballot. ONCE YOU SHOW VALID PICTURE ID. You can show it for a 40 and menthol's, you can show it to vote.
libs will find away to cheat, steal, and corrupt.
Well that could be it... I'm totally on the fence, family wants me to move to East TX- and the deal was if Hick AND Udall were re-elected, we're packing.
SInce Udall didn't get re-elected, friends & family are wondering where that leaves us... with lickenpooper in, and a R state House & Senate it looked possible that Colorado could be saved...
if the House has fallen, then I may re-think that... unless the gerrymandering is un-done in 2021, the state will be fully Californicated... not sure I want to wait that long, I'd rather pull my salary from CO taxes and help the economic collapse come sooner.
Texas? please TX is lost only they don't know it yet. Illegals en-mass and entitlement squads already took Huston. Austin, well that's been gone. Big D and Ft Worth, as the urban areas reproduces, more D voters are spawned on par with Muslims.
There's Utah, Idaho, ND, SD, OK and wyo. Both western & eastern migration will eventually suffocate those still standing, OR on their rascal. WA turned in to another flaming ball of progressives , from the CA people wanting a better lifestyle. We've seen it happen here.
The common goal was supposed to be the elimination of Hickenlooper, but apparently the libs, greens and others felt their candidates needed votes to "send the message". Well, we heard your message and it was "I want Hickenlooper for four more years". Pat yourselves on the back gentlemen, you got what you wanted.
On the first part, voting for anyone who doesn't at least get 20% of the vote- seriously, Mike Rosen said it today, once a 3rd party candidate can get 20% of the vote, it's really not going to do anything. I've said it over and over again today, when your presidential candidate (looking at everyone that voted for Gary Johnson) gets .99% of the vote, and your gubernatorial candidate get's 1.8%, that's not really doing anything. That's like going to a football game with a baseball and saying "to hell with this, two of us are going to play baseball, the other 20 of you can do what you want." What did that accomplish? The words "Jack" and "Shit" come to mind.
Point two- Again, you put it so well! I can't agree more. What did these two gun control bills do to make the fine people of Colorado safer? Do they really think that the next mass-shooter that decides they want to murder folks here in CO is going to say "well, damn, I can't legally purchase these 30/50 round magazines here, I guess I'll just not go batshit crazy today." I worry that there are some (even running our state) who really are that incredibly stupid.
Had it been one candidate that garnered 85,000+ votes, I'd say that's pretty impressive. But spreading it out among several candidates that had not even the slightest chance of election, that does nothing. See my above sports analogy. Basically, since we can safely assume you weren't in Hickenlooper's camp (otherwise you would have directly voted for him), you basically helped by proxy to get him reelected. Congrats. How does that feel? I see the whole vote for the guy who doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell as the same as not voting in that race. Protest or whatever when it comes to the polls, but like was said ad nauseum in 2012, elections have consequences. Since you and the people that voted for Dunafon or Hess deemed it unimportant to get Hick out, you must reap what has been sowed. I didn't like Beauprez, but I sure liked him more than Hickenlooper, and I found that getting rid of Hickenlooper was priority #1, then we can work on the other stuff. You don't like the idea of changing the republican party from within? How's your alternative working out for you? Again, when a 3rd party candidate can get 20% of the vote, I'll continue to work my ass off in the ways I can to try and sway the Republican party towards a better and more meaningful direction.
Yeah, this... mine was way more long winded. [Coffee]
Ugh, now that that's out of the way, my conundrum comes in. In this case, a runoff, like in Louisiana, might have helped to get Bob in. But what if the tables had been turned and Beauprez won 48% to 47.5%? If the law were like that of LA and the candidate would have to get 50% or better, what would happen in a runoff if he lost? He already won the first one, but due to the runoff rules he loses. That's a pretty hefty risk and why I guess I really can't get behind an idea of a runoff. Although I do think that if all the folks who voted for candidates 3, 4, and 5 were only allowed to vote for 1 or 2, the majority would hopefully go for our guy... except for those that just pout and stay home.
Look at the election results for TX... Abortion Barbie got her ass handed to her... wasn't even close, even with Abbot saying he would secure the border, he still got 44% of of Hispanic vote, and overall won with A (DRUM ROLL) 20% margin!
The good people of TX (the D's in Austin can suck it) need people who have seen this run, and make it loud and public what game is afoot...
and IMHO, if TX goes blue, there not be any safe place in the country anyway.
I'm aware they don't give a rat's ass about my income (taxes on it), but at least I won't have to cringe watching my hard earned $$ going to those lying, thieving bastards!
Enough people that earn more than the median income do that, and you can slowly watch the economy of CO fall apart.
Besides, I have to do what I need to do to protect my family... from the (D)ombie apocalypse
Give me a compelling reason to stick it out here- I already work from my home, my employer may actually prefer me in TX, closer to a network Lab we have on the East side of Dallas... just not going to be popular with individuals I work with in COS...
I'm a network engineer, not much call for that kind of tech in most of the states you mentioned... I've already done AZ, don't care to again...
If Alaska opened new oil fields and had a tech boom, I could make a run there... (graduated from HS in Anchorage), but it wouldn't be popular with my family... and right now their economy is tanked with very limited oil flow...
I'm fine with going to TX and being a classic redneck a-hole that makes the state offensive to Libs moving in... I'll take trips to Lib strongholds like Austin and Houston to visit Liberal hangouts and offend them repeatedly, letting them know they're not welcome there...
I've already got Horses, cowboy boots, a black Stetson, and stature to go with it... I'll just start smoking cigars and punching Libs in the face.[gohome]
Absolutely no reason to stay.
HOWEVER IF, AND A BIG IF. Obama does an amnesty for Illegals. Tejas is poised to be taken over by the same mentality who masterminded the D take over of CO. It's a major blip on their radar.
Most Black and Hispanic traditional families, lean R. A lot of hispanics around here, and there's a lot (SURPRISE) do not want amnesty.
Unfortunately no one has a crystal ball able to predict the future of politics. You keep the Soros, Stryker, Polis, Gill, bloomberg money circulating, sooner or later it will pay off.
After reading all the feedback, I have to say I'm more interested in how realistic a two step process would be. Vote your ideals and heart the first time around, let the percentages show where people land. I can certainly understand how some might want to do that, no matter how unrealistic their chances. But then the small percentages drop away and it comes down to a 1 on 1 match up, either at the ballot, or in a ultimate fighting deathmatch. [LOL] I don't know that it's ever going to be realistic, but it does seem like it might solve both problems. If you did a first and second choice, people could certainly decide not to register a 2nd choice and stand on morals, but I'd have to believe that many independents I know would just like to have their voice heard before voting for one of the two parties.
[Train]
They do a run off in LA if the candidates get 48 -50%? each.. Steel Cage grudge match, NO RULES, NO BELL. 1 WINNER, 1 LOSER.
https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.6079...1&pid=15.1&P=0
I'm fighting WHO ?
Yeah, they need to do runoffs if the "winner" didn't garner more than 50% of the vote.
And for those of you blaming the 3rd party voters, its looking like Hickenlooper would have still beat him even if there were no 3rd party candidates on the ballot. There's still about 4% of the ballot left out there so I'll wait till the final numbers come in.
Haven't some people said that Obama was going to be the best thing for this country- because it'll cause people to wake up?
Huffpo's front page currently:
MOST REPUBLICANS IN STATE CAPITOLS SINCE THE 1920s
GOP Controls 2/3 Of State Legislatures... The Agenda: Cut Taxes, Gut Regulations, Limit Public Assistance... States With Total Dem Control Now Lowest Since Civil War... Ramifications Could Last For Years To Come... New GOP Govs Could Undercut Medicaid Expansion... Big Business Greets Washington Republicans With Open Arms... GOP Preps For Power... The Democrats' Lost Generation...
I hope this happens, but Republicans aren't going to cut spending, I just don't see it happening. They're all money grubbing, lying bastards.Quote:
The Agenda: Cut Taxes, Cut Regulations, limit public assistance...
At this point, I would be happier with cutting increased spending than I have been with the out of control spending by the profligate progressive Democratic Party.
There are: the ways I would like things to be, and then, the ways I have to learn to live with things, in order to get on with my life.
While I believe our nation is headed toward a cliff, I would like to go there as slowly as possible.
Classic throw a rabbit in a boiling pot vs putting him in a warm pot and gradually bringing up the temperature. I'd rather the train accelerate out of control if it's inevitable so at least those willing & capable of doing something about it know it's go time. Despite tons of internet chest thumping I think the actual # of those who would is minuscule at best.
lol yup.
Honestly though, I would rather get there slowly, as cstone said. When the time comes, it's going to be awful and terrible and probably very bloody. I have a family. I want them to live happily and peacefully for as much of their lives as possible.
War is an ugly thing (but not the ugliest of things...). It is not fun or exciting, nor is it glorious or fulfilling. I want to spare my loved ones from the brutality of conflict for as long as possible.
I'm not getting younger and if I'm going to have to fight for my country/life I want to do it sooner than later. There's are reason you can't enlist in the military to fight for your country at 50 years of age and the longer we wait the older those who still believe in something bigger than themselves get. If they can slow roll this long enough all that will be left are the indoctrinated dependent and then... well... I think we all know how that story ends.
They tried and the Dems "made it hurt"... Shut down the National Parks...shut down the museums. Sent military men and women home. Instead of actually cutting spending on wasteful things that would not affect anyone, the Dems made sure the only spending that got cut was anything that would enrage and hurt the people.
The Dems are way better strategists and way better politicians. 99% of politicians are liars and cheats however the Dems have it down to a science...they have no morals so there is nothing stopping them from doing extreme things to win. And it's because they have no morals that all of them are willing to do anything for their party. They work together because they have no personal values to violate.
Conservatives by-in-large aren't willing to violate their own personal values to conform to the party needs. Many, as is evident by posts on here, simply aren't willing to compromise. This characteristic seems to be one that goes hand-in-hand with having conservative values...having strong personal convictions is honorable and just part of being conservative...the nature of the beast I believe. However it's also a flaw. A team simply can't win without many of the team members making a sacrafice of some sort...too many of the right not willing to take one for the team.
And this is precisely why Democrats have been destroying this country for years while Republicans sit on the sidelines.
I thought Obamacare would bring people out of the woodwork, but all it did was screw over people who work for a living and already couldn't afford exorbitant healthcare.
This is pretty much my thinking as well. I too have a family, and while I'd prefer they never have to experience their world torn apart like that, if it's inevitable then I'd rather it comes while I'm best prepared to protect them and fight back i.e. the next decade or so. I'd hate to be sitting there at 80 years old and have my son have to do all the dirty work because I'm too old.
Not mention with the wars of the past decade coming to an end (whether they should or not) we have a massive amount of GWOT vets with recent combat experience in urban and rural environments a chip their shoulders.
Now would be an excellent time.
While I agree with you in large part hollohas, I think it is deeper. It is not just holding to one's own personal compass when it comes to morality and integrity, it is the attempt by many conservatives to attempt to force everyone else to conform to their personal values. There are many things which, for me, are immoral and wrong and I will not do them. Yes, there are things which are wrong which I have done, and I try to alter my behavior to cut down on those. But, if you do not hold my same personal convictions, American values say that I am to let you be so long as your actions are not detrimental to my life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When I shoot matches, I obey the rules and penalize those who do not as the rulebook says, but I do not tell them they have to shoot the course of fire that same way I do.
If we examine closely Christian values (like ti of not, the Judeo-Christian ethic is foundational to the constitution), they say that we are not to judge people, but actions while adhering to Christ's teachings. That went off in the weeds in the Christian church when legalism came in and said you can not dance, drink or chew or go with women who do. Christ associated with prostitutes and criminals, he did not condemn them. The American Christian church has sought to condemn "sinners" when if the true teaching were to be followed, ALL are condemned to sin. The politicization of Christian values left the acceptance and replaced it with judgement, even if the "sin" was impactful only on the sinner. By re-creation of the "law" most Christian politicians have lost their way in that Christianity teaches that everything done by man is folly apart from Christ. Bottom line, no-one can legislate morality and many in the Christian right think they can. If you want people to be better, you affect their thoughts, show them the benefits of better conduct, not condemn them by labeling in accord with their actions.
Republicans who want to get elected should not even be talking about issues which are already law. Rear-looking policies are the methods of Obummer, the republicans need to lead with a positive message and let the vileness of the Democratic party damage their candidates. Repeal, undoing etc. as it relates to Democrat policies is a focus on the negative. Identify the biggest problems and find solutions without attacking the Democrats directly...that looks like a winning formula for some GOP wins across the county.
