On second thought, I'll ask the kid if he's up for replacing your timing belt and shift cable, Irving. I'll find out tomorrow, he's interested in those kinds of side jobs.
Good night fellers.

Good night fellers.
Thanks. No immediate hurry on this, but as I make bonus money this summer/fall from work, this will develop.
Get a quote, save money do it all at one time. Why double up on some labor charges, trying to save money. You need a timing belt / chain. Replace water pump, thermostat, and other hard to get to items, while in there.
Same for intake leak. While shits off, valve cover gaskets. Each repair requires removal of like items. Had to replace pan gasket in truck, and intake leak. Required removal of motor. 125k on odometer. Pan's off, do rear main, intake, removed AC compressor, and alternator, cover gaskets ,water pump etc.
You guys make me feel like I don't know anything about cars... And relative to some of you chumps (especially Jim, OBC, Z) I really don't.
Sure is a good skill to have though. I need to get under the hood and under the cars more often and start figuring stuff out.
Always have spare parts. A tuesday OOPS can turn in to 2 week OOS replacement. Oil & filter changes, belts, bulbs, basic stuff everyone should know. Pulling an engine to do a starter, it's unnecessary for the layman, to have the tools and expertise for it.
The best tool everyone should have is this saying............................................ ........................................... How much and How long.
When I had the money, I got into buying two oil filters each time I did an oil change, and extra oil. Was nice to just have an oil filter on hams this weekend when I was dying the vehicle maintenance.

This is how we operate at our shop for the fleets. It's retarded to tale half the front of the motor apart to get to ONE pulley.... do all of them while you're in there, or you could get hosed for the same labor in a couple of months to do "another" pulley. It just makes sense and saves money in the big picture. We really do take care of our fleets with decisions like these, our customers trust us and we never sell anything that shouldn't be done. We also take care of some stuff for free, believe it or not.
Irving, the kid said he's interested in your side job...and he's done some similar work on that type of vehicle already. Lemme know, and I'll shoot you his name and contact info.
And HOWDY howdy fellers. :)
Met the first of my new neighbors tonight, similar age couple right next door....they just moved in a few weeks back. Seem really cool, and look forward to getting to know them and becoming friends. Ed and Katie.
Don't even ask, yeah, I'd do her....lol. Ed seems alright, has the chance to be as cool as you guys, but that remains to be seen ...ha!
I plan to take some small tokens of friendship to all of the immediate homeowners, exchange some ph numbers for emergency type purposes and stuff like that.
You know, a bottle of wine or something similar.
Anyways, gonna be packing up more stuff each night and hauling it to work, then get out of work and run it to the new pad. Try and make a larger trip with the trailer again on saturday morning, and then wait for the furniture to be delivered.
I also hope to get a free satruday to get down to the renaissance festival for some steak on stake and butt tons of beers, before they close that down for the summer. Nice cleavage down there..
:D
The best gift ideas for that neighborhood. Condoms, KY sensual lube (don't wanna be hip deep in a hipster, without Plan B) , rechargeable batteries. Now for Katie, mmmmmmmm subscription to Spikes TV?
On a serious note, don't get to friendly with them, OR hint you have guns.
Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddddd............ ......
tomorrow the stupid starts all over again...
Heres to a good week, Ladies and Gents!
Heya Belly !! Good to see ya man.
Yeah, Kazoo, I hear ya. Solid advice.
Holy crap, best lightening show of the year. Only moderate rain so far and few 40 mph gusts.
Oh yeah, Hoverines!
Damn, the thunder finally started. That first loud one right over the house, that you were not expecting and makes you duck, made me duck. [Tooth]
Some of the ones right over the house make it shake a little. [hammer]
Must be the same thunder we heard over hear a few hours ago. It was good stuff.
Power outage at the observatory all day long. They manually shut everything down to replace some major electric grid part or something. What does that mean for the guy who works at home connecting his computer to the site for a software network license? It means he gets to sit at his computer all day being completely unproductive because his software won't connect to the network license so he can't get any work done.
[WooHoo]
What's up Hos?
Short lunch break today!
Took my annual PT test this morning. It was breezy and it rained a bit, but I came out unscathed. [Abused]
What is everyone up to?
Anyone do anything cool this weekend?
We went to the Renniasance Festival on Saturday and had lots of fun with HB Jr. The "people watching" there is some of the best around. Totally worth the entry fee.
My favorite part of the Ren Fest is the guy who insults you while you throw tomatoes at him.
I missed his face by about 2 inches. Totally worth 5 bucks for 5 tomatoes. The insults he throws back at you are hilarious.
Got done with work just before 3. Went and got new tires and alignment. Going on a road trip and need them. Glad it was cool out today. Had two roofs. Yesterday was two water losses and it was hot as heck.
