Glad you enjoyed the stages. We certainly plan to use the whole 200 yards (It was about 100 and 130 on it today), but we still saw a lot of folks struggle on those plates. While we only had 7 of 49 go over 80 seconds, I surmise looking at the scores, if it was 200 it would have been 20+. Also, 30 seconds taking 3 misses was still a 0.5HF and lengthening distance on HF scoring really invites folks to game stages.
If I took that exact same course and stretched it out to 200 and 150, I would have made it be one of two ways. 1. 30 second fixed time (shoot as many points as you can in 30 seconds). That would mean your points is your score. or 2. A 60 second par time with the long steel designated as enhanced penalty targets (basically double miss penalties on the steel). Those are the ways to prevent gaming of the stage and keep the time per shooter reasonable for match flow. That was a 7.6 MOA target, at 200 it is a 5 MOA target. Our plan is to stay at 4 MOA or greater, so certainly within acceptable accuracy range.
I do have several stages that ONLY have 1 to 3 targets at 200 yards with multiple engagements and 6 to 15 rounds that take the paper out of the mix, which is really a better way to run the 200 yard berm for HF scoring, so I will put one of those together for April 1st and you all will be able to see that style and then give feedback to Matt which is preferable as we develop the flavor of the match.
I really like the 3 standards on the 100 yard berm mixed with the 2 hoser stages and the 200. Thanks all for coming out and helping make it a great day.
I forgot to announce at the shooters meeting that we have a precision rifle 2 gun test match (Precision rifle and a 9mm) on March 31 at CRC. The thread on that is here: https://www.ar-15.co/threads/166913-...ado-Rifle-Club
I had such a great time today guys, will def. be back for the next one.
Is there going to be a practiscore sign up like last time?
I'd say with the projected rain/snow tomorrow, there is a decent chance it will be cancelled.
Check www.crci.org before you head out Saturday morning.
Understood. Thanks!
Is the weather going to put the kibosh on this match, or is there still hope?
Kibosh indeed!
Match is canceled due to weather.
