It gets harder. I had the urge to organize communities the closer I got to 30 days. Hell, Jer can't stop wanting to make name tags now. Poor guy.

Keep it up bro!
I decided over the last couple of days that I'm going to do this again. I'm going to time it this time so that I have few distractions. I will probably do two weeks and will start right when winter hits and I'm not outside walking or mowing and doing stuff like that. If I lose another 10-20lbs and keep most of it off when I come off of it I'll be stoked. Just need to do it when I don't need energy for physical activities & don't have temptations (Thanksgiving & holidays and such) to keep me from giving 100% like last time. When I do this I'll start posting stats daily again. I've been taking weights and tracking every day like I did when I was on the juice fast but I haven't posted them since they've been relatively insignificant with more small ups and downs. Still sticking with the diet plan that I said i was going to though and I feel healthier every week. I know I've said it before but no way could I have stuck with eating like this before the juice fast. My mental state is what's made it possible and it's all thanks to the fast because I literally felt my cravings change in the 2nd week.
Any chance a mod or "powers that be" can add a 'Health & Fitness' tab General Discussion? Might give a single place to talk about diet & fitness related stuff.
Morning of day 9 stats....
Day 0: 243.3
Day 9: 226.0
Total lost: 17.3! HO LEE FUK! (you know, that pilot guy...)
feel pretty good. I am ready for bed about 8:00 pm, where usually I would consider myself a night owl. I have had 2 nights in the last 3 where I didn't wake up in the middle of the night, slept right through... (very rare)
Still looking to stop at 10 days, but shit, if I could make it back to the teens, that'd be HUGE for me... may continue through the weekend.
Nice! Awesome results man! Are your daily gains still pretty good? If so and you're not pulling your hair out over it (shouldn't be past that stage mostly) then I would stick with it for another week or so. Might as well if you're doing good. I plan to start another one in the next month or so depending on the weather. Just like the first time I had a loose time frame of how long but knew going into it that was a fluid situation. At first I thought a week or 10 days and then after a few days of relatively little side effects I decided to go to a full 60 days and the goal was 60lbs. After the first two weeks I had great results and was well on track to the 60lbs goal. That next week fizzled and I made the decision that at that point it simply wasn't worth it for me personally. A couple of pounds in a week wasn't worth giving up being able to eat socially (just smarter now) with friends and family. I made the decision to come off of the fast and start eating healthier for about the same amounts of loss and for the most part I've paced the weight loss of that week 3 but I'm doing so in a less impactful manner if that makes sense. I'm losing about a pound per week give or take and while that is certainly nice I feel like another fast to get another 10lbs or so kick start on the weight loss would be nice. I knew when I ended the last fast that I had left the door open again for another one in the not-too-distant future. I think that used properly a juice fast is very healthy and is a wonderful tool for some who have tried just about everything else unsuccessfully. I'm proof that anyone can do it but I still have a ways to go. My wife keeps introducing me as her skinny husband but I keep having to correct him and state that I'm still fat but not as fat as I was and headed the right direction. It feels good though to have people comment on how much better you look because it's hard when you see yourself every day since you don't really notice it. When someone else comes up to you and points out how your cheeks are a lot skinnier and your face is thinner and blah blah blah it's motivation to keep on doing what it is you're doing. Sounds like you're on that path now too so keep it up brother and keep posting your results!
quick update....

Bumping this up for round two!!!

Current Weight: 259.0
Previous Weight: 261.4
Lost since yesterday: 1.4
Total Weight lost: 31.4
Lost since fast: 8.4
I haven't done an update for a while since things have been much slower (with a lot more up and down days being pretty regular as expected) but decided that I'm going to do a 2nd juice fast starting today. I have done well with my eating habits and have pretty much kept to me plan while I was still fasting. No bread, cheese, milk, dairy, pop and smaller portions with better foods overall. Heck, my last meal last night before starting was a salad so that should be a good indication as to what the original juice fast has done for my decision making when it comes to food. Healthier decisions aren't as difficult as they were prior to doing the juice fast. I've done a decent job of weight loss since the fast and certainly haven't gained weight like some warned would happen. The weight loss has just been slower which is to be expected but I'm looking to see if I can spike another weight loss to further my progression. Hence the 2nd juice fast and I'm tentatively planning another one near the end of November after Thanksgiving too depending on how this 2nd one goes. This time I'm planning on 2 weeks and the goal is 20lbs which is close to what I lost in the first 2 weeks last time. I started my last (and first) juice fast July 1st and wasn't sure how long I would do it being as I had never done one before. It could have been from a matter of days (if it didn't go well) to months as I had seen some people go for 60 days and more. This time I have a better idea so I'm planning for 2 weeks from today. The plan will be the same as last... nothing but juice & water for 2 weeks. I've got a few Naked Juices but also topped off the drawers with veggies once again too. I'll have regular updates again for those interested.
I don't remember my starting weight (238 or 248lb) but right now I'm 191lb! How about that.
I'm pretty proud of myself!
Wow, pretty impressive DrFwd. How do you feel?
I've been thinking about going for round 2. I'm sitting at 265 right now after some yoyo weight from eating like crap lately. Another fast was on the docket but the lady and I decided to clean out the fridge and pantry and get back on paleo.
I currently buy four to six bags of kale at Costco every week and add a bit of carrot and apple (as well as cayenne, ginger, and lime) which leads to a pint a day of green juice, seven days a week. The juice-only thing was interesting, I did it for a month, but it isn't something I'm opting for indefinitely.
I need to start back up, keep thinking about it. Feel like ass again, and I know it's just a matter of time before the wife mentions the Breville juicer sitting there gathering dust and says "WTF?"
We juiced exactly twice. A lot of vegetables went bad. I'd like to do it again. Wish we had a better juicer, but the one we got was free!
I keep putting it off... Every time I but produce, we always end up using it for other foods...
2nd juice fast day 2 check-in:
Starting Weight: 290.8
Current Weight: 256.0
Previous Weight: 259.0
Lost since yesterday: 3.0
Total Weight lost: 34.8
Good start. As I recall I lost about 5lbs the first day of my last fast so maybe not quite as good but I have to admit, I was concerned this fast wouldn't have as good of results as I was hoping for. I was paranoid that this time around simply wouldn't work for me for one reason or another. I guess it was just misplaced paranoia but whatever. It was there. I'm relieved to see some decent results the first weigh-in after starting the fast. I think a lot of this was due to the fact that my hunger wasn't as much yesterday as it was the first day of my first juice fast. I had a couple small hunger pangs but nothing noticeable really. Maybe that's the causation of only 3lbs instead of 5lbs but another thing to take into account is I started this one at roughly 260lbs instead of 290lbs so the % was bound to be lower this time around. This was to be expected so I'd say I'm right on track for the goal with minimal hunger at this point. All in all a good start to the fast.
2nd juice fast day 5 check-in:
Starting Weight: 290.8
Current Weight: 251.6
Previous Weight: 252.4
Lost since yesterday: 0.8
Total Weight lost: 39.2
It's been a few days since I updated so here's an update. After my last update I lost 0lbs the next day and I think the next day was 0.2lb or 0.4lb so not even really worth reporting. Yesterday I lost a couple of pounds but had a busy day and forgot to post. At any rate I'm at about 7.4lbs lost since Monday so I'm on my way to my goal. I'm also closing in on another milestone and that's 40lbs lost total between my first juice fast in July, my diet since and my juice fast this time. The next one after that will be being in the 240's when I get under 250lbs. Should be an exciting few days!
What is your ultimate goal weight?
Someone asked me that question the other day and to be honest I don't have an exact number in mind. I've been so fat for so long that I have a hard time visualizing what would be a 'healthy' weight but when I get there I'll probably know. I used to be very self conscious of my body back in the day when I was young and worked out in my early 20's. My girlfriend (now wife) took a pick of me once in a rare moment without a shirt at home when I exited the bathroom. I was embarrassed by it because I thought I was fat at the time. When I see it now I would pay handsomely to look like that again today. I worked out regularly and was active in addition so I was about 215lbs & about 10% body fat give or take (since methods weren't terribly accurate) and was strong. So, if I was forced to pick a number that would probably be it. I'm not sure how that would 'wear' today though since my muscle mass wouldn't be what it was then probably. I don't know. I'm hoping to lose about 20lbs this fast, take a couple of weeks off and then do another two-week fast before our trip to Hawaii. I guess if I just go by the #'s of what I expect (hope) to lose on these fasts coupled with what I've done so far that would put me at around 220lbs. How realistic that is I just don't know because I can only assume that as I got lower in weight the weight loss will be more difficult to come by so to be honest if I'm anywhere near 230-240lbs I think I would consider that a success since 240lbs would be a loss of 50lbs since only a few months ago. That isn't my ultimate goal but it's a great start and my healthier lifestyle is going to help me continue losing but as of right now I've got a more short-term goal to cut as much as possible for our trip to Hawaii. I'm sick of all the warm climate places we travel to (Miami, Cancun, SoCal, etc) and I don't want to hang out and enjoy it in the sun on the beach and such. I really just want to be able to take off my shirt while we're in Hawaii w/o feeling like a bloated wale that encompasses all that's wrong with this nation.
Does that answer your question? lol
Yes pretty much! LOL
You guys still doing this?
Not really, tried doing another 10 day cleanse, but just couldn't. I haven't gained any weight. I'm holding steady but I want to loose another 30 lbs this year. Still juice every week, don't eat as bad. Haven't had a 1500 calorie chipotle burrito since July 2013. Weekdays I usually eat a apple for lunch and a small dinner. Weekends are where I fuck up
Oh hell no. I fell off that wagon, got ran over by the wheels and stomped by the horses. Keep meaning to try again.....
100% juice diet...... Although I did it for a month straight last Summer, I'm not convinced it's anywhere near as healthy as the various proponents claim it to be.
My MD and my own mother is recommending me to do juice diet for dinner.
Since, juice diet will cost me $$$$ and time to do so, I made my own diet called "NO MONEY DIET."
I am buying $1.79/bag salad from Walmart, and consume those over 2 nights with my family.
I do not know about losing weight, but I sure am saving money! [ROFL1]
I lost 7lbs pretty quick with a Keto diet and some moderate working out. Check out the workout thread. I eat carbs on the weekends (Friday lunch till Saturday dinner) and as long as I keep carbs as low as possible during the week and work out a few times, the weight pretty much falls off.
We took a trip to San Diego a couple of weeks ago and Hawaii in December and before both I did another fast for a week and cut a quick 10lbs or so. I may do it again pretty soon to get even lower but we'll see. We're discussing a cruise in a few months and maybe I can get some abs! lol I'm another person away from abs yet.
Well, I can get gastric bypass surgery with no out-of-pocket costs, covered 100%, so I'm at least going to check it out. There's a several month process before they actually wheel you into the OR, you can back out at any time. I've known a lot of people that had it done with huge success.
I'm back to eating "normal". Every ones in a while I eat "not healthy"...
It's actually very easy for me to maintain my weight now regardless what I eat.
Every time I feel "guilty" after a meal - I just skip next meal and I'm good. Lol
Juice seems like a better idea to me. I don't like the idea of anesthesia though. When I was a young chap I made the doctors remove a tumor from my shoulder under local. It was pretty cool to sit and watch them slice me all up. I could feel the pressure and pulling but it wasn't painful or anything.
But I digress.
All the cool kids is juicin'!
