I was just talking to the owner of a hydroponics store about this earlier this week. She says that plants that bear fruits and flowers need more than just a bunch of nitrogen, and if you try putting all the other required nutrients into the system it kills the fish. I had a similar experience with my set-up and growing two jalapenos, but I had a number of things I wasn't doing right so I'll never know what the issue was.

They are also notorious for generating large hail storms.
I remember when I was stationed at Ft. Stewart when they reflagged from 24th ID to 3rd ID and they painted the water tower with a backwards 3 ID patch!!
They had to repaint the broken television set all over again!!!!
Wait, the media you gave me was infected with FAIL? LOL, j/k.
True, leafy greens and herbs do awesome indoors in aquaponics. Fruiting veggies not so much. I have grown a ton of different things for fun and to experiment (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes - which did great, just took up the whole room, carrots, beans) but all of those aren't worth the effort. But lettuce, bok choy and all herbs are fantastic.
