A&E loses Sheriff support for filming: http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/12/...-filming-89533
Per the Conservative Treehouse, the executive producer of Duck Dynasty, Scott Gurney, is a homosexual male who has appeared in gay porn before moving to the other side of the camera.
Truth stranger than fiction, a gay man is OK with giving the Robertson's a weekly platform.
Ginsue- Well put! My uncle was gay, and I cherish his memory for the man that he was, not the lifestyle he chose. I was unfortunate to not have gotten to know him very well (he passed away of AIDS-related complications when I was 4) but still love him in memory as the awesome uncle that he was - mostly from tellings from his brother (my dad) and my grandparents. While I can't honestly believe he is in hell because of the way he was, I do not agree with the gay agenda, but know that it doesn't affect me one way or another what someone is. I respect others' views to believe what they wish to believe, be it one way or the polar. I do, however, take issue with one side getting preferential treatment and the other getting public shaming. We're passed the point in our society where we can "agree to disagree." It has now become "You must believe in unison with one way or be looked upon as wrong." This is flat out un-American. No longer is a difference of opinion a talking point, it is now a declaration of personal war on another. Why?
I digress... Zund touched on this, and I read this great NewsBusters blog about that very issue- that the show was originally pitched to make fun of the backwoods hillbillies of Monroe, LA... The idea backfired and people began to identify with those hillbillies because of their morals, good nature, and the viewership began laughing with the Robertsons instead of at them, as the A&E execs intended... and that family grew beyond the producers' control. And now the family is backing their patriarch, and I feel that Duck Dynasty may not be on A&E for much longer.

Time and time again the leftist run entertainment media trys to lampoon "the right" only to have it blow up in their face. I call it; The Archie Bunker Effect.
Norman Lear created Archie Bunker as a caricature of the blue collar conservative that he thought was a bigoted idiot and ended up creating one of the most beloved characters in TV history.
Archie Bunker, Alex P Keaton, Ron Swanson, Denny Crane and now Phil Robertson (although he's actually a real person) ... all were put on TV to show America the "Stupid/Evil Conservative" and all were beloved by millions and seen as roll models, not villains.
Some here have expressed my views on this subject much better than I can. I think Ginsue nailed it.
I am betting 99% of the people in this country know of this "issue" and can give you their opinion on the subject. Why is that? Why is it that this particular case of a Christian expressing his beliefs and getting publicly lambasted for it brought out such a massive defense? I find it particularly interesting that there has been such a counter-offense supporting the subject of this particular non-PC/Christian opinion. I don't know why this has touched the nerve when so many other times similar cases didn't.
I am not very articulate so I will instead quote some of the particularly thought provoking articles I have read, highlighting points I think can transcend this issue and give us inspiration when facing other attacks against what we believe to be the ideals that are the backbone of this country.

Millions have already rallied to Phil Robertson's defense. That's extremely heartening. But whether those millions will "hold the line" against the considerable media counterforces of the Left remains to be seen. Christians have all too frequently accepted a mess of pottage in exchange for conceding the public square to their enemies. We've grown far too comfortable with our public marginalization and exclusion.
As with the ultimate outcome of the A&E / Phil Robertson clash, whether it will be the falling stone that looses an avalanche of stouthearted reprisal against the enemies of Christianity cannot be predicted. For the reasons stated above, I am mildly pessimistic about the matter. Silence and deliberate disengagement have become habits for too many of us.

Quote:
Our lost republic had recognized certain rights as being endowed by the creator, inviolable, irrevocable. Of these certain, inalienable rights is the right to religion, but that right is often misread and almost always misinterpreted....
...There is a deep necessity of those on the left to abolish Christianity. Now, I would say religion, but that is not true. They are accommodating of almost any religion, even phony religions, but not Christianity. To them, Christianity must be banished from the public eye. All references to Christianity must be striken from the record, banned from the schools, ripped from the monuments....
...The whole reasoning behind the Revolution is undermined if God is taken out of government, because it is religion that founded this nation, gave it spirit, emboldened its revolutionaries and sustained them in the darkest days. Think of George Washington dropping to his knees and praying for his troops, for the survival of the new republic...
