Remember this takes place in L.A using the back drop of the L.A. Public school system as it's center.
So we have l.a. union teachers WHO HAVE THE MENTALITY OR BELIEF THAT the government WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM if something was wrong (STRIKE 1)

The father / boyfriend DOESN'T BELIEVE IN GUNS low and inside (STRIKE 2)

WE are seeing the deterioration of a major urban area, along with the breakdown of society. Combine that with people who have NO SURVIVAL INSTINCTS (outside the former south american .gov interrogator) Believe someone will save the day. THINK the military is there to hep them AND so far refuse to take up arms to prolong their own survival you have what IMO real life would take place (STRIKE 3)

The only people who had their shit together who stood a chance of bringing everyone together are long gone now and it's just a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off
You're forgetting the black guy / salesman / con artist being held with the junkie kid. He's not only on the ball. He's about to use the kid as his fall guy to escape. Who will be shot first some junkie or the slick guy throwing him under the bus.

and, to me anyway, I'm just as concerned about their well being. Bad acting. Bad dialog. Bad plot. No budget. This, my friends, is a sucky show.

ALSO what we're seeing are events that happen prior to Rick (TWD) regaining consciousness back east in a rural environment. L.A. is about to be what we see later in( TWD Atlanta) had become. A wasteland of death and walkers.
IMO The whole L.A environment is merely a lab study of mice / sheep, what ever you'd label them. "WE" see it every day in real life. They are a have no clue, emotional D/Progressive / Liberal voter.

Since we don't know where the writers were going with this "prequel" Who knows they may have planned for it to be full of characters we were not meant to like, or cheer for.

I bet when OBC goes to those "zombie runs" he walks around with a boner all day.
