Yeah I read that and his math is sound, but if the money is going to be there for 30 years or more (which is the case for both of us at this point, because we're both at least 30 years away from 59.5) it almost always makes more sense to do a Roth, primarily because of the tax free growth. If you max your contributions to your and Mrs Irving's IRAs every year for 30 years, using the unimpressive 7% figure above, you will have basically made more than $700k in absolutely 100% tax-free income.
If you max your Roth and have money left over, then by all means, put it in good mutual funds outside of your IRA and let it grow alongside your retirement, but without the tax advantages. Alternatively, this is a perfect time to really diversify your portfolio in real estate or other types of investments.
If I'm wrong about any of this, please stop me, but I am 98% confident in my conclusions. If I am screwing up the math, or reading the tax law wrong, stop me now! -I am relying on these things for my future! hahaha

This thread has a lot of useless bullshit in it, but there is a metric shitload of really useful and productive information interspersed all throughout! [Beer]
I don't think you're wrong to go ROTH at all. Obesity thing I was confused about was the max contributions. It is $5,500 for any type of IRA, but he makes it seem like the $5,500 includes the taxes when funding a ROTH, and that's not the impression I was under. I didn't like the way he did the math on that part.
Yep, that's how irrational fears work.
Full disclosure - camera was clipped to steering wheel and set to timer and all posts/texts were made from shoulder parked to attach/detach camera or while parked in restaurant and gas station lot.
I did break the speed limit.

Speaking of scary stuff. Standing at the top of a 32' ladder, in a tree, with the wind blowing; so everything is moving left to right about 3 inches in either direction. THEN, asking your wife to pull on the rope you just hung and you find out you hung it too far out because when she pulls on the rope, the tree branch moves down a full six inches against the ladder. I thought I was going to vomit.
The next part was trimming a branch from the same spot with the worry that when the weight of the cut branch is relieved, the trunk holding the ladder will rise enough to drop the ladder. After that we just flew a kite in the wind. Heh.
Oh snap! Bread cook off!

On the left is garlic onion, on the right is cinnamon and nutmeg. Never used a dutch oven before and thought I'd try it out now that I have this one from Driver.
Mrs bo interested in bread recipes.

I would not have done that. If I was the law-breaking type (and God knows I'm not), I would have just grabbed my phone and snapped a pic without stopping. Of course, the pic I would hypothetically take would be kind of pointless because it would show 69.9 mph on the 70mph interstate... ;)
Took 5 minutes to set up with piece of card board and couple spring binder clips from my briefcase.

Lobo you get any video of you doing burn outs in that piece of shit?
Tag your it
Lol well played
Just regular no knead bread (flour, salt, yeast, water) and flavor to taste.
I ended up putting them back into the oven and the outside is way over done on both of them now. The insides are perfect but you pretty much have to cut off the crust. Haven't screwed that up since my first try. Oh well, still very tasty. You can taste the cinnamon and nutmeg in one, and the onion flakes and garlic in the other. Came out quiet well despite baking the crust on so hard.
I nearly forgot. Someone gave me the idea of climbing the ladder from the back side, with arms only, as a kind of work out. I tried it and it wasn't as difficult as I thought. Hands fatigue from the awkward grip on the D-rungs before anything.
Lame. You ever wanna do some big boy burn outs let me know. [emoji41]
Hypothetically of course.
well I'm sick of my "new" truck
2012 ecoboost with nothing but the ecoboost problems.
has to be either stock, or heavily modified.
It's had nothing but nickel and dime issues, and no warranty since 3/36000 is gone.
so I started to void the warranty and making more issues for myself.
first was a down-pipe......
too much boost and messed up the wastegates.
custom tunes and about 8 different re-config's and still having wastegate issues.
so up next would be new aftermarket wastegates to hold the higher boost pressures.
higher boost means, I would need to upgrade internals and fuel systems.
upgrading engine and fuel system means I need to upgrade clutch and trans and axles, and, and, and, etc.
I'm ready to return to stock and sell for a dodge. lower the payments, better fuel mileage, and could tow if I needed to in the future.
