They look like Continental TKC80s... they are available in 17 inch sizes that are appropriate for the SM

TFOGGER has it right. They are the TKC80's. 120/70 17 front and 150/70 17 rear. It was the less expensive way to make the SM dirt ready for high country riding. Moving forward and funds allowing, I would probably source a set of wheels from the E/S DRZ for any more technical riding...
Sent from my Id.
I don't know if Cycleracks' rear rack for the 400S will fit the SM, as they don't say on their site, but if you are interested in a rear rack, Cycleracks is the way to go. Should give em a call if you are interested in it. Have had them on last two bikes and they're great.
Was just clicking through their customer pics and realized they had a picture of my old bike on there!
I'd forgotten I had sent that picture to them. When I was living in an apt over in West COS, I had a fireplace and so did the old man next to me. So I'd drive up in the mountains and get dead-fall for firewood for us that winter.

I still have the gloves on the handlebars, stored in my truck.

Finally replaced my last HD I sold after I f'd up my shoulder and before the move. Thought I'd settled on a RK, but this one spoke to me.

That's a big ole girl , how's it ride?
Comfy...like a big ole girl. [Coffee]
They ride really well with the improvements they've made in suspension and such since 09. Surprisingly nimble...well, as nimble as a 900+ pound bike can be.
ETA: And the brightest freakin' headlights I've ever seen.
