Since we don't know where the writers were going with this "prequel" Who knows they may have planned for it to be full of characters we were not meant to like, or cheer for.

It was an interesting Talking Dead I thought.

Was that the Staples Center with all the zombies in it? Or just some big ass damn building...there was some debate about that on this end.

A yacht that large likely has a desalination system on board.

That episode was a huge let down.

What blows my mind is other than the very first episode with the "nerdy fat student who brought a knife to school", there has not been a single reference to food or supply chain interruptions... In reality, the moment something poses a threat to restocking the shelves or polluting the tap water, food/water insecurity will become the immediate focus of most people, causing some pretty dramatic (and criminal) behavior... That is what I would have expected to see in these first few episodes and it hasn't happened.

I haven't seen the finale yet, so if anything happened that negates my following input, so be it.

I don't feel that we're viewing a group that has any clue about the long-term nature of this situation. ALMOST everyone/anyone with any foresight as to the seriousness of the situation has already bugged out. We may see them later, we may not.
The characters we are watching likely assume this is a short-term, somewhat isolated incident, and as has been stated above, believe the .gov is on their side.
I believe a lot of this will be fleshed out in the next season (hopefully) or two. Hopefully we will see some in-depth character and story line development as well.
Is it easy to watch? Not really, due to our collective mindset, along with expectations fostered by watching TWD. Makes it hard for us to not scream and throw things at the TV.
I am hopeful it will improve.

It might get a bit better than this beginning season.
