Oh yeah thanks for stopping by and going over the machine, appreciate it.
KNEW I FORGOT something. Irv, did i tell you i have a mini split installed in the shop [LOL]
Listen bub, I've got the cash for the car. Many credit cards offer so many points if you spend $3,000 in the first three months. I plan to use that calculator to see what kind of benefits I can get if I put $7,000 - $10,000 onto the card. For example, maybe there is an initial bonus period where you get double points for spending or something. It's worth a look at the least.
I don't think you did. Must have told my wife when you were talking to her on my phone.
Here is my latest idea. Wifi enabled electronic door lock on the front door that allows me to change the keycode remotely. "What's your home address? Okay, that's the key code to get you into the cabin. Enjoy the weekend."
Of course with a back up manual key some where.
As long as one has the means to pay off early great. IIRC Chase is offering a Open a checking account of $5K or more, get $500 bonus from them. You have to keep X in per year. So i'm going to transfer a portion of different accounts to chase. Let it sit the year. Take the 10 % buy 2 more tax stamps.
So I was looking for thread online and ran across this: http://www.amazon.com/Superior-Threa...=sr_1_5&sr=8-5
1,000+ yards for $24 is a pretty good deal, considering I've been paying $3.99 for 150 yards. BUT, if you click the link, scroll to the bottom review and look at the middle picture, you can see that this roll of thread is about the size of a carton of milk. If I bought that, everything I sewed for the rest of my life would have to be orange.
Your spindles wouldn't hold it. We could fab up a coil wrap machine to transfer to standard sized spools. OR i could turn down some nylon spool holders to run off of.
3 day rentals first.
There is more appropriately sized spools, just need to find the right seller.
Agreed on 3-day rentals. Think I could find some mountain bikers on here for a free weekend in exchange for some reviews. Okay, going to bed in a bit.
All the sign up bonus have a spend requirement. as long as you do the spend, and there's no first year fee, if the shoe fits...
Just don't get sucked into the available credit trap. I think you've discussed this before - that you have unused credit - and it's best to keep in that way.
Wish I had taken my own advice 30 years ago.
I'm currently sitting on about $60,000 of available credit with almost 99% of that being available. Should be able to avoid that trap. I don't want more debt, as even a small amount can quickly eliminate any benefit from rewards.
I'm interested in what kind of rewards are available with a $450 annual fee. My Amex Blue Cash card has a $75 annual fee that pisses me off. I can't imagine $450.
Especially since 33% of the 60 is available in credit cards, such would be a terrible way to try and manage an expensive emergency.
There's a trick for that. You set a coffee mug (or otherwise-appropriate-sized container) at the back of your machine, near where the spindle sits, and place the large spool in there. Then thread your machine as per normal.
FYI, Joanne's has sales on their thread about four times per year, buy one get one free. FWIW, I find Coats to be the best brand they carry. Hancocks going-out-of-business sale is the place to scoop up right now; they have 40-yard spools for under 3 dollars. Or they did a couple of weeks ago.
(Whoops, I meant 400-yard. Thanks for catching that, Irving!)
You mean 400 yd spools?
Yep! They're in neutral colors: Navy, tan/beige, black and white.
Got a new cabinet for my reloading stuff. Needs paint and leveled up and it'll be GTG.

My philosophy on credit card rewards is that it would be safer, quicker, and less of a hassle just to pick up some side work or sell some old stuff than to try to manage the points and deal with those scammy credit card lowlifes when trying to cancel or make changes. It just seems like a really silly, tedious, and risky way to try to get ahead in life. ...In fact, I can't think of a single successful or wealthy person who got there with credit card rewards points.
Well hell yes.
Personal finance rule #1: If you want to be rich, start doing rich people stuff. If you want to stay poor, keep doing poor people stuff.
Rule #2: Don't buy crap you don't need with money you don't have.
I think if you're following those two rules, you'll be fine. Clipping and using coupons is good if it's worth your time and effort. I'm not sure that the advantages of credit card reward programs are worth the time and trouble for most people. Of course, the credit card companies want you to believe that they ARE worth your time, because that's their sales pitch.
Yep, credit card companies get 90 out of 100 pepper who apply for benefits.
I know a reasonable loan place. No Credit Check, Modest collateral and you're GTG
My powder is stored in my fatboy safe.
I figured out that my coffee cans full of nails can hold all my powder in the areas between the nails and screws. Super efficient storage solutions yo!
I use my Amex for all things business. Racked up 17g this last month in business related charges, equipment parts etc. But if there's money charged that means money coming in.
I used my Amex almost exclusively for business travel and personal expenses for years. Hell, I put $24K of dental work on it one year. Enough to pay with points for a pretty swanky 7 day cruise and a lot of the extras.
I get a nice mileage bump with the UA card and value the air miles added to my (business) paid for miles a little more now. The two free UA club passes are valued (more now) than the annual fee and I usually only need one or two a year for extended layovers. Having kids and a Grandkid out of state requires some personal air travel a few times a year and it's nice to have it covered.
