Very true. That is a easy jaunt up the highway too.

Wax, kinda lost track, the girls still playing high school ball or on to college?
This close to 35K and that Irving kid is chasing me like a process server on crack
Hey ya Buff, ya time is flying by. My Daughter is done with her High School and Club season, been a long run, gonna miss watching her play locally. However, all that work has paid off. She has been fortunate enough to receive multiple scholarship offers from various institutions, from 4 year universities to smaller Jr Colleges. After Much Deliberation she decided on Sheridan College in Wyoming, just felt right, not to big not to small, close to home, great coaches, team and a tough division. She will pursue a degree in biology and will continue to play in her current position. Looking forward to road trips to watch her play. Thanks for asking...

Today's Active Self Protection example comes to us from_______....
1 more day of work, then its a 4 month frat party!
I'm becoming increasingly disappointed with work. Thinking of making a change.
Disappointed?
My company wants to be the biggest and the best with the broadest coverage in the nation. Ready to serve their customers at the drop of a hat, anywhere, at anytime.
That's bad?
That's pretty much the goal of every company ever. The problem is that they say "YES!!!" to everything with no consideration of if it is possible or not. Also, they're really excited about undercutting a whole market and contracting their techs out to do that work. The problem is that I've done that job that they're trying to undercut and I know first hand that what they pay isn't worth the effort to do that job, and many of the techs are not properly trained to do what they are asking. I imagine this is the same issue as with many companies. Promise the clients the moon at half price, then hire a bunch of contractors to constantly eat a shit sandwich to produce those results for you. That's okay for 18-year old kids with no other job experience that may not have made any real money in their life. However, I know what I'm worth, and I know what other companies pay (a lot more) for the same work. First I got to the point where I understood that not everything is always going to be hunky dory, and for the most part the good times out weigh the bad. BUT, when I have to start doing things like driving all the way to Omaha (about 8 hours) through the middle of the night, getting no sleep, only to arrive right on time at an appointment that ends up being canceled because I'm not needed and getting just a trip charge ($50). I start to get upset. Doing other people's jobs for half (or less) of the pay really starts to piss me off. Every company meeting goes on and on about how excellent they want to be, but they are unwilling to pay the people who bring the excellence for that performance.
Which is why a lot of experienced, older job seekers are not getting call backs.
Or the decency of the business to acknowledge they received your application. 15+ yrs experience, $40K + salary request [LOL] We have 1/2 doz kids with a college loan overdue, who'll do it for $15K , we'll dump when they ask for a raise.

You know I read every thread.
My post above sounds excessively bitchy and Millenial-lly. There is nothing special about my situation. I'm not even in a "situation." I've just been exploring other opportunities, and once you start doing that, you start getting the "grass is always greener" syndrome going on. Fortunately, I've been networking and can make a seamless transition if I need to. We'll see.
No it doesn't. What you said is the truth. One would 'think" business learned their lesson when the people they hire can't last the month, if not days in to the job.
Some places are willing to pay a decent new hire wage, while others could give a fuck and have revolving door employees.
FWIW: another 1/2 hour back n forth on the subject, i'll break 35K
You're almost there.
I just don't want to sound like the usual "I feel like I'm worth more money, whaaaa." It's not me, it's the job.
whaaaa
Sounds like a business that wants to run like the .gov. The .gov is failed, only propped up by the ability to write itself credit on the backs of 5 generations not yet born.
A backstop to such behavior would be a radius-based contract: anything outside of this radius = full cost if cancelled without X hours (48?) notice.
I just want to be lazy and a billionaire at the same time. Why can't I be part of an entourage of some Princess in Dubai?
The MOST beautiful princess, from Disney.
She did seem to have quite the affection for magic carpet...
If there's nobody to hear the mic drop, did it fall?
