At least explore the many food places, in and outside the area.

Okay I just purchased some Lucas fuel treatment, and changed the oil yesterday. I'm anticipating having spent 6,99 + tax + a one pound bag of dill pickle sunflower seeds for no measurable difference in performance.
That's a perfect justification for people who buy treatment every other tank (I'm sure there are some suckers out there doing that). Best case scenario is that my fuel injectors were actually dirty and I get increased mileage from now on. More than likely you're right though.
I've seen such huge improvements just by driving slower that this is mostly just wasting money. Speaking of which, I'd love to just cruise and see how good of mileage I can get today, but I'm trying to get to Junction City before it gets dark.
I use a "wonder wiz" mix of PS and MMO in my diesel, but it's more to quiet the injectors, and hopefully improve the life of them and the injector pump...
I'm not super religious about adding to every tank as I sometimes forget to replenish the mix containers kept in the bed, but make a concerted effort to do so when I'm towing on longer trips.
Did you know that Kansas adds a "docket fee" to citations that is more than the actual fine?
That sounds about right. Really pressing my luck with the windshield though.
If I get rained out a bunch this week, maybe I'll get one out here.

M27, designed by Heckler & Koch, is less than half the weight of the M249, offering more mobility, less strain and the ability to engage the enemy faster. Also, the new build resembles the M4, making it hard for enemy snipers to distinguish machine gunners as targets while still providing infantry Soldiers on the battlefield with vital overwatch.
AUTOMATIC FIREPOWER
• Firepower: Semiautomatic and full automatic options
• Cyclic rate of fire: 700–900 rounds per minute
• Maximum range: 3,545 meters
• Effective range: 600 meters with iron sights; 1,000 meters with optics
• Muzzle velocity: 2,900 feet per second
• Ammunition: 5.56 mm NATO round; 30-round magazine
• Lifespan: Cold hammer forged barrel lasts for 15,000 rounds

"Lifespan: Cold hammer forged barrel lasts for 15,000 rounds" ????????? Better carry a shit load of barrels if this weapon is used in full auto mode for any duration..
That's probably minimum. SAW gunners will destroy barrels due to having the gas set too high. Even in a gunnery situation, it would be unlikely to go through more than combat load. Armorer should be keeping track and replacing as needed.
Lets hope so, although the article seems to point out the full auto function as a selling point to replace the M4, at $3k a pop, I'm not sure what to think about this being standard issue.
"Automatic riflemen are the offense and defense of combat arms Soldiers on the battlefield. They provide overwatch and suppressive fire for fire teams and are often the most casualty-producing members of a team. Since 1984, these riflemen have relied on the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) in combat theaters, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, the SAW’s cumbersome weight (20-plus pounds) triggered the need for a new high-powered option. One possibility: the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR), already in use by the Marine Corps. The M27, designed by Heckler & Koch, is less than half the weight of the M249, offering more mobility, less strain and the ability to engage the enemy faster. Also, the new build resembles the M4, making it hard for enemy snipers to distinguish machine gunners as targets while still providing infantry Soldiers on the battlefield with vital overwatch."
They're not replacing the m4, they're allowing automatic riflemen the ability to blend in more (same argument was made for the snipers to transition to the m110 and the SDM/SPR rifle AMU was pumping out to line units).
The SAW is a pain and the training for it isn't carried over from basic riflemen training. With an "m4"-like weapon, the automatic riflemen can transition into their role easily.
The USMC has already done studies on this concept and the m4-like variant won in actual Marine testing: https://www.mca-marines.org/gazette/...tic-rifle-role
Based on H&K's civilian CSR. The .mil should get replacement parts now.

Have a great camel day...
Operation: Gas-operated (full-auto)
Length: 1,230 mm (48.5 in) (1,130 mm (44.5 in) with short barrel)
Weight: 10.1 kg (22.3 lb)
Caliber: 7.62 mm (7.62×51mm NATO)
Maximum effective range: 1,100 meters with tripod and T&E (the latest FM reads 1,800M)
Maximum range: 3,725 meters
Tracer burnout: 900 meters
Cyclic rate of fire (hydraulic buffer): 550–650 rounds per minute
Personally have counted over 30k through a barrel that's not toast yet.
It's more of an issue of the gunners on the trigger more than they are supposed to, which wears out the gas port opening it up, causing higher shooting rates. Usually barrels are worn out at breach rather than full barrel being worn down.
The article I linked indicated there are two gas settings on the SAW. Is that no longer the case? I thankfully never had to learn the hunk of crap since they weren't part of our MTOE.
I'm back in the land of the living. OK, so that's a bit mis-leading; I wasn't dead or anything.
In any case, I believe I'll be heading back to the Springs in October. I'll check here every couple of weeks or so.
Thanks to Ginsue for reaching out!
Welcome back!
