They were so freaked out they would have shot a cat in an alley thinking it was a terrorist cat. What is truly amazing is that either of them still draws breath.

I was listening to the Boston scanner that night, and there was a time during the search when an officer came on asking if there were any long-guns found at the scene of the first shootout (with both brothers). The officer answered that there were two handguns in the street along with two "devices." The officers confirmed this back and forth a couple of times.
I never understood why the media was not listening to the same scanner traffic I was.
All night, I was hearing one thing from the cops, and at the same time, completely made up BS from the media.
You had me nodding in agreement until the dig on intelligence agencies. Ya know, people bitch and moan quite a bit (I know, I got it all the time in the Army) about how intelligence folks aren't good enough and what not... What exactly are your expectations? Do you think we're God or something? We can't know everything all the time, and we're not omnipotent and precognitive. FBI, CIA, etc. probably did have this guy on their radar, and just because Russia says "keep an eye on this guy" doesn't exactly warrant going on a witch hunt and shipping someone off to Gitmo. They probably didn't find any evidence to do much of anything. As crooked as our federal LE can be, 9/10 times they still have rules to follow, especially when it comes to foreign threats. After Benghazi it was the Obama administration trying to levy the blame on the "intelligence community," but for some reason no one gave the intelligence community a pat on the back for foiling the Millennium operation and the Brooklyn Bridge operation (oh what's that, never heard of those two foiled attack attempts? Not surprised), but the second you don't stop something from happening, suddenly you're incompetent and incapable...? /rant
As to this whole thing, I honestly think we're not getting the whole story. Also, on top of that, a judge and federal attorney came in this morning and Mirandized the suspected bomber (yes, I didn't mince words, he hasn't been proven guilty in a court of law). That surely ended the FBI's questioning when he exercised his right to remain silent. What they did was totally legal, as it was needed prior to his arraignment, but I do question the timing of both the reading of his Miranda rights and the scheduling of the arraignment before the FBI concluded their interrogation.
Remember that not only are all media wonks under pressure to get the story out before the other guys, their story has to be more sensational than the other guys' as well. Truth? They're not concerned about no stinking truth. They're concerned with advertising revenue. The faster they get out the more sensational story, the more advertisers they'll attract and the higher they can jack up their rates. Cha-ching, everybody gets another buck.

Also- point of contention to add:
"Unarmed, wounded 19-yr old causes Boston lockdown"
This title is, I believe, a bit inappropriate- Is the OP implying that Dzhokar Tsarnaev is not a BG? It's a little misleading in a perceived bias that perhaps the person police took into custody on Friday was not indeed an armed and dangerous suspect.
