Woohoo! This morning I see that I was drawn for my 2nd choice for pronghorn.
I have NEVER been successful in a draw before and this year I get a deer and antelope.
If only my lotto picks would be successful.
My huntin buddy and I both drew our antelope tags for down by Lamar, not a trophy area but I did take a 75 inch goat down there 2 years ago. However no deer tag, that puts 9 points to my name in that department. 3+5 for sheep, moose, and goat, so I'm headed to Alaska next year for my second moose up there and hopefully a dall sheep. Anyone have a good location for black bear? I have seven points and am just waiting till I have time to invest looking for a nice one.
I'm in the same boat Lars. 7 points for bear and the same for goat sheep and moose.
What does it cost for moose and sheep in Alaska? Do you use a guide? I know some animals you have to and others you dont.
My dad and I went up back in 08' and it was 10k a piece for 10 days and we both shot nice bulls, we are going with Ron Warren of Alaska guide service next year for sheep, moose and griz. It's 16k for this one. Its 14 days of hunting in the Alaska range. Its not cheap but its what dad and I live to d. So we make sacrifices on other things and go on a hunting trip every few years. This is the bull I shot in 08'
Great looking bull! Have fun going after griz! That would be awesome!
Drew my Buck tag after 11 years of waiting and getting points. I even know where the one I want hangs out. :)
Successful was in my slot for Pronghorn! I didn't even put in tags for anything else, just points.
Thats nothing. We have a game trail on the property, had a big prongy buck out about 25 feet from me on private land. And can't do a thing about it!
Does anyone know if prongs go into a rut in fall or something, and become super aggressive? I don't think I'd like one sneaking up on me when they're 'in the mood'.[facepalm]
Wow, that's a helluva bull, Lars, they don't make 'em like that in Colorado. Lucky guy, you and your dad are living the life!
Good luck on your hunts this year. Look forward to hearing about it however it plays out.
Here's a little Shiras moose in the driveway to our cabins in NW Boulder County. My cousin is the brave one getting up close and personal.
