I'd love to try one, but no way I could afford it.

I read this book! Good guy still won at the end.
looks like most of the technology is in the scope, calibrated for ammunition loaded to a certain velocity and weight.
It's a really neat system actually, no matter how much someone hates electronics doing the work for you... You (for all intensive purposes) "paint" the target, or put the designator where you want to hit it, and the system stays locked on. Then you put pressure on the trigger, and when the sights line up once more, boom. You don't worry about breathing, distance, wind, pressure... the scope does the compensating for you. Here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55WsyTkpTCchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvbyAcYjzlc From what I've heard, the latest innovation that they are doing with it, is making the scope smart enough to recognize what it is that it is locked onto, and be able to place the designated dot on the part of the animal that would best bring it down. Basically, you paint the ass of a deer, and it sees a deer, and then moves the designator to the heart and lung area for you. Then you line up the crosshair with the dot, and boom, perfect shot. I love technology...

I remember seeing something about this, or very similar to this, about a year ago.
Looked pretty neato to me.
