I've been heading there from time to time for some recoil therapy... and for exactly what you've mentioned.

You should never own another AR. The AK fits your style so much better.
Sent from my teepee using smoke signals.
My son and I went up there last Thursday and had a great time. There were a lot of shotgun shells on the ground, and we picked up as much as we could. Overall, still in good shape and no crazy people.
Anyone care to help a clueless newb out? Where is the area being discussed here? I hadn't found any open shooting areas anywhere down this way. I've been to a few up around the fort collins area, and to a bunch of the indoor ranges, but would love to find a semi-close public shooting area.
It's on the top thread of this section. Click on the 'compiled list'

Headed up to the site and then for some overnight camping with the boy tomorrow.
Anyone been there lately?
Conditions such as how much snow on the ground etc., roads into etc.
What about the Lake George area? Snow level.
Camped last weekend @ Lake George and shot at south shooting area last weekend
Snow is only in the shadows. If the area gets sun, there is no snow. Temps are still pretty chilly at night. Night of the 15th it got down to 6 degrees and snowing.
Conditions at the south site are good. Still lots of shotgun hulls, and some other junk around. Not very muddy. The entrance road is better than it has been in the past. It had been 5 years since I was there last.
