removed the throttle body and cleaned it, it was pretty gummed up. I'll do that real quick. Also just for the hell of it, I removed the charge pressure bypass valve and applied vacuum, it didn't open...I'm wondering if that might contribute to the problem

So it did turn out to be the bypass valve, I replaced it this morning and it smoothed everything out. Thanks for the help guys.

^^^this. Had exact same problem with a couple of GM vehicles. Cleand maf on one, had to replace the other.

I have the euro on my solus pro, and while it is ok on some models, its awkward on vw/audi, especially if you aren't familiar with vag-com/vcds. Its the only tool other than oe to use on the four rings of death and VW. I've used it some, and am somewhat familiar with it as a result. Trying to run generic obdII data display with your solus is worthless on the twins, as its very slow to stream. If you cleaned the throttlebody, you should have done a throttle relearn which the euro package from snapon will do, as well as the vcds. tmleader can probably back me up on this, in that the VWs are known for bad MAFs, or at least were for a while. Only credible source for good ones has been the dealer. The bosch units sold at the parts stores are not the same quality, nor the same part usually. At least you seemed to found the problem. If you guys consider doing more vw/audis, look into the ross-tech vcds. There are a few other tools that are decent for euro as well. The snapon is ok, I use it for reminder resets, and simple stuff, but a lot of the nastier stuff, when I would get trapped into doing it, I would grab the Launch or the vag. I personally prefer domestics and Asians over the euro stuff myself. That's what tmleader is for,lol.

Did the idle relearn with another techs modus, I hate to ask to borrow tools let alone a scanner, I cleaned the MAF last night and it didn't change anything either. I think the writer took it in trying to scrounge up hours, cause normally we would send them to a euro shop. I have no experience on euros myself, besides a few that came in over the winter with curb shots. Glad I learned something though.

I hate Launch. Wont touch that if you gave it to me. For all vehicles, Snapon is hard to beat. For Euro; VAGCOM for VW/Audi, Durametric for Porsche, and Bavarian Technic for BMW. Though the euro kit for Solus is pretty good with BMW. I typically use that before Bavarian Technic. Like I said earlier, Snapon sucks for VW/Audi.

I never said I liked Launch,lol. God awful slow thing, and horrible interface. It just gets you into more modules, and more trouble than snap on.
