These would have been an attractive alternative to an Optimus in terms of weight.
Actually, I was thinking about the Optimus 111's, which were crammed into the bottom of most people's packs 30-40 years ago. Any one of them would have liked to have shaved a few ounces off of those boat anchors! Granted, I suspect a great many of those are still quite functional today, long after their original owners have sprouted grandchildren.
I'm done collecting up the stuff to make a couple tonight. Should be fun.
You should try a "Cat-Stove." Tis made out of a cat-food can and a tuna can. You should be able to find plans for it on the net. I use one. They are supposed to be the best. I had a cook-off, against my propane stove, and it beat my propane stove.
They are easy to make and the only thing that you need is two old cans and some insulation.
This guy has cool stove videos.
nice little stove, but the video could be about 1:30 long without all the fluff.
Yeah, all his videos are painfully boring with that low key instrumental metal in the background.
I tried two last night. I got the one in the OP to work, but not one that was linked in a later post. It just would not light. The one that didn't work was the one where the guy used a 1" spacer to cut the bottoms off of 2 cans.
