Sportsman in Grand Junction has a better selection on firearms. And really good prices. Used to have a great selection of reloading supplies too but with the current drought of components they have consolidated it all to one little pathetic area. Super depressing to go in there and see that.
Work in a Retail store is really a pain in the ass. In my experience at bass pro every time a new ad coming is a messy day because you need to make signs, labels, endcaps, etc, , etc, etc and at the same time take care of the customers and I think there is a new ad every week.
At my store if there is something wrong with a price from hunting the cashier just call my department and I'll find the product and confirm the price because many people try to take chance and obtain stuff at better prices, 99% of the time I say yes to the cashier and they just make the correction at the system without need to call a manager. For the only we call a manager is for a "price match" (actually, people pretend that we match online prices or other stores prices without any ad of proof)
Every time check your receives because this will happen at any Retail Store and I don't think that exist any way to fix this, worse is when the 6 hours sale comes! Ahhh, I hate them!
I've bought exactly one item from them so far. A 700 adl they had on a special buy sale. (Cheaper than an action from brownells) The guy looked at me like I grew a third eyeball when he asked if I was going to take it to the range that afternoon and I told him it was going straight to the gunsmith as all I wanted off it was the action. He couldn't understand how the rest of the rifle wouldn't get the job done that I needed it to do. I guess I just find it somewhat sad that someone working at a gun counter had never heard of such a thing.
Before the Cabelas in Thornton opened, I applied there on a whim. After a 2 hour interview with the Gun Library manager and the drug test and background check, I was offered a full-time slot as a specialist in the Gun Library. Full time slots are super hard to get there, so it was quite a compliment. Firing Line didn't want to lose me, so they did what had to be done. A few months later, I am now a manager at FL. I'm really, really glad I stayed.
I've had the same experience at Bass Pro, so I won't be boycotting either one.
THe op wasn't asking anyone to shop anywhere in particular. Just a courtesy reminder to watch as your goods are being rang up. The difference in my bill would have bought a stripped lower. YMMV
That is good advice for any retail store, even the grocery store.
I've had the same thing happen several times at Cabela's on sale items.
