First you need a grant from the government to "study" the problem with the pre-conceived conclusion that the problem was caused by white privilege/racism/sexism/homophobia. This gets you a six-figure salary while producing absolutely nothing of value.

We already know that this problem is caused by your "whiteness." Your racism made you think you could force a black rifle into a cage made by a white man (okay, child labor in China, but the white man designed the case). To make matters worse, you're also a homophobe because your rifle is gay; it has a barrel and takes it in the breech. The gay-black rifle doesn't conform so instead of evolving your racist and homophobic views, you want to attack and maim the gay-black rifle, shortening it's barrel and thereby disenfranchising it.

As your penitence, you'll need to publish an OpEd in the NYT documenting this and make an appearance on MSNBC. Mellissa Harris Perry will explain to you that the gay-black rifle actually belongs to the community and you had no right to even try to put it in your case in the first place. You will cry on cable television.

You will advise the SPLC on how to identify people who put rifles in cases as a hate group.

You will lobby Congress for a law outlawing cased rifles. It will pass.

Your grant money will run out and the original problem will remain unsolved.
